Woah, it's been a while since I was last here! Shocked

So, this is the kind of stuff I've been up to lately. Although I'm spending hours in a studio at school this year, it's not actually for 'drawing' drawing, (I'm there for the bachelor of landscape architecture course, ugh.)

Anyway, this is one of the very very few drawings I've been able to do for fun. I'm trying to work out my own style, just because I never draw anything in the same style, (although it's fun,) it'd be neat to develope a style that could be recognisably mine.

Please fullview!

And this was Valentine's Day 2008 card for the boyfriend. I'm trying to get out of an 'anime' style, (especially with cards for him, he can't stand the stuff, haha.)

Click!

Critiques please! (I'm sure the anatomy needs work, as usual, and the pencil didn't scan too nicely.)

You did a really good job with this one. I realize you said it did not scan too well, but I wish I had even a quarter of the talent that you seem to have. I really like what you did with the drawings. Thanks for posting these and sharing them with us.

I remember you were amazing and I can see you still are Smile The valentine card is kind of icky with the scissors and all, but ... it really is icky Very Happy
I really like the shadow, good thickness of lines, the pose ... I feel like you're well on your way creating something special and unique

Looking forward to more Smile

I'm actually wondering why you are in landscaping when your true passion seems to lie somewhere else? I'm actually just generalizing with you because I don't actually know what your "passions" are Silly. I guess I'm just disappointed because you obviously have a lot of talent rendering and drawing; which would be better suited for a course like Bachelor of Visual Communications or Fine Arts. I guess I can't blame you though, it's a really hard world for fine artists, especially for jobs (first hand experience in my program). But I do know that you do have some knowledge with design/graphical aspects so I guess I can take half of my statement back; there's actually quite a bit of jobs dealing with design.

The good thing about your work is you know how to render, and you also know how to present it/prepare it through photoshop (or whatever you use). This could be applied to specific jobs, like character design (conceptual drawing) which a lot of game developers are looking for constantly. Anyways, I know most of this because my girlfriend is kind of in the same vein as you; in terms of rendering/design.

Anyways: I don't think you should worry about the style thing too much, because I do think it is there in everything you do, no matter how subtle. It's always great to experiment, although I wouldn't take too much stock in what your boyfriend likes, because you aren't drawing for him are you? (well except for the valentines one). In that case it's fine, but he shouldn't discourage you from doing what you do best Smile. I'll comment later about the specific pieces.
