| i've talked to a few people who have gotten rock band and there instruments have crapped out. one person had the guitar break but they can just use a guitar hero guitar instead and the drums have broken for both people i had talked to seems they aren't that high quality. i plan on getting guitar hero 3 with my sister seeing how we have developed quality time of guitar hero and beer over the last few months |

Yeah, I've been hearing bad things about the Rock Band instruments being of a low-quality construction. Allow the fact that one of my dorm-mate's Rock Band drum set broke in the first two weeks of playing be a testimony to it.

drath, you're taking the comparison way too far and I'm sure you are aware of it.
I don't know if you ever bothered to look at it from another perspective, but I work a full time job that takes up my entire day very easily. By the time I get home and eat dinner, I basically have less than 4 hours before I have to sleep to start another work day.
How would you expect someone with a schedule like that to take up guitar lessons and get good at the real thing? It's not realistic. I don't have that kind of time, nor the commitment to something that I have no intentions to make money off of. I have programs to write, I have photos to publish, and I have games to play. That's all the time I can divide nowadays, and the only reason why video games get a spot but real guitar playing doesn't is because games just seem like a better use of my time, and it's much easier to get better at.
So, for me, Guitar Hero is a great way to get some of that type of feeling of playing some form of instrument, fake or not, without investing the time and money into the real thing.
On top of all that, I actually own an acoustic drum set. For the same reason as stated above (time) I never got really good at it, and now it sits in the basement collecting dust. Maybe I'll get back into it later...
Anyways, enjoy your real guitar. For people like me, it's just not as realistic. _________________ Come visit Shattered Abstracts! (Photoblog!) |

All I could think of after seeing the Subject was the guy who sold his sons copy of Guitar hero 3 after coming home early and finding his 15yr old smoking pot. Heres the link...

I have to say that I'm pleasantly surprised by how much fun Rock Band's been in my experience. Granted, I didn't pay for it... my roommate bought the full set for us (3 of us total) to play on the 92" projector with nice 5.1 speakers... good fun!
Can't say that the instruments are of the highest quality, but they all work pretty well for the most part. Calibration is important, too. And the drums don't "feel" like you're playing the drums, but you can only ask for so much. |

The cops are really good at finding suitable punishments for people who break laws.
That auction seems faked to me. Looking at the bid history, the same guy rose the price from $227 to $9,000 in 12 different bids. Anyway, who would pay 9.1k dollars for a video game? _________________

While the auction itself is not faked (it was covered by local news outlets in my area since the auction is located in Canada) there is a slight chance the bids might be faked. That's why I don't deal with ebay. =) _________________ Come visit Shattered Abstracts! (Photoblog!) |

I love Guitar Hero III. I got it last week for my birthday and haven't been able to quit playing it. I think it's a genius idea that should have been out years ago. I bought Guitar Hero III for my Wii in around the beginning of March, and I've been playing it fair bit since
I bought the Wii double pack (with two guitars) and I've had a couple of nights with a few friends over, playing Guitar Hero. I'm actually disappointed that I haven't had much time to play the game by myself. I'm a couple of songs off completing Hard mode... and then I have to play expert (although I doubt I'll even finish that).
It's heaps of fun. Far more fun that I'd have playing a real guitar. It's a challenge which is easier to complete than playing a real guitar, (mostly) without having to deal with all the crappy music you make while you're still learning which each string does.
I've heard that Rock Band is coming out for the Wii... which I guess would be quite fun, but I think that it's unlikely that I'll ever get it - I don't see myself singing, so it would be a bit of a waste should I get it. |

The only songs i have not completed on solo career on hard in all 4 games (gh, gh2, gh 80s, gh3) are One by Metallica, Raining Blood by Slayer and the devil went down to georgia(i think) the battle at the end which i can't play because it is not unlocked. I'm sure I could beat these songs but Slayer is just such bad music IMO and I can't constantly play One because the beginning gets so dull and its a long song.
For Guitar Hero III remember to play the coop career because you get new encore songs unlocked. I know the songs unlock on medium not sure about easy. Even with to decent players on hard that can get through most of the solo career the hard coop is even tougher. I'm still stuck on Knights of Cydonia I believe.
What looks to be an expansion pack for 3 Areosmith is coming out in July or June I believe. I'll have it preordered once I have some money again. Also Guitar Hero: On Tour, the Nintendo DS GH is set to release over the summer. Between that and the Dragon Quest IX, I am going to have to pick myself up a DS |

What do you guy think of the YouTube videos? Like the ones with that 9 year old kid who plays everything on expert. They're insane. I think it's pretty cool as long as you don't let it take over your life. _________________ "You Cant Keep Going to the Chicken Coop with Blah Blah on Your Mind When All You Have is Hot Sauce in Your Glove Compartment." |

Haha... I can't get through the first part of Fire and Flames on expert either. It's an awesome song though, I've listen to it so much
I've only got Raining Blood and the Battle to go on Hard. I think I made it about 80% through Raining Blood before it owned me It took me ages to get through One. I got through on a lot of strategic star power, a lot of button mashing, and a bit of luck (there's only one little bit which is hard).
The Coop is hard. I've been playing with friends who don't have the game, and hence aren't that good at it. We're a fair way through Co-op career on medium, but haven't really tried it on hard yet.
I wanna play it again now.. but Mario Kart is the new game, so I'm guessing I'll be playing that a bit more |

It took me like 37 tries to get 5 stars on Raining Blood, on easy. Hah. I wanted the achievement for my 360. Yesterday I finally got it. The trick is to play a faster mode for a couple of hours and then go back to the slower one and you'll nail it. _________________ "You Cant Keep Going to the Chicken Coop with Blah Blah on Your Mind When All You Have is Hot Sauce in Your Glove Compartment." |

I just have one song to beat on Hard and then I'll be pretty much done with the game, as my focus is now on Rock Band. That song is Metallica - One.
I got 97% complete once, but I just couldn't finish those last 3% so now I'm just discouraged from trying again. _________________ Come visit Shattered Abstracts! (Photoblog!) |
