Simple Orange

Found myself with way too much free time, so I dug up an old layout of mine and bothered to finish/fix it. For lack of a better idea of what to do with it, it shall be thrown up on display to the lifeless masses of the L2P forums. Enjoy and let me know if it doesn't render properly in whatever browser you're using.. (include OS, browser, and browser version).

Cute. Simple. But the top and bottom parts of the orange would look better if they wouldn't form a round orange (I don't know if you're following me). They could spread all over the header and footer, not forming an orange, but being the top and bottom parts of a bigger orange. Just a thought. Rolling Eyes

Thanks for the suggestion. The template is free for use — so if you feel like tweaking it, go ahead and download it and the files it links to. Smile

I was going for a really simple, light-weight design here. The whole page is less than 20k, I beleive. Adding any more graphical effects would slow it down a bit..

Edit: Just checked, the page actually totals out to around 33k. Laughing

I really would download it and tweak it a little, but I don't really know for what kind of website it could be used. Laughing

A fresh Orange look would go for... a cocktail site. Idea

If anyone knows anything about cocktails, go ahead Wink

Or a whole website about oranges and fruit and their benefits. Just a thought... Rolling Eyes

A different banner would make this a great basic template. I like how you make the orange/yellow and white meet on the sides, it is a nice break from the usual straight lines. The picture of the orange (top and bottom) I feel really hurts the design.

Orange, huh? Nice idea, I like it. I also like the fact it resizes based on browser window and resolution. It's a rather nice, adaptive layout, don't you think? I have one problem with the navigation menu, and it's that the highlight box is way too big. Try to lower the padding by one or two pixels, hell, maybe even three. I personally think it's too big, and that it overpowers me.

I like the idea of orange. I think navigation bar should be a bit smaller. Everything else is good. Wink

Well it looks good, nice and simple. I just don't like the wavey part on the left part, I don't know why, but I just don't like it. Whenever I see something wavey like that I close the webpage ...

It is very neat, but the left colum is f'ed in the a. The boxed feel of the navigation doesn't flow with the curves and bends of the left colum. Also, a good idea for the banner would be to brighten the orange slice up a little. I mean the rest of the site is very bright, but the banner seems dull.
