To continue, I did speak briefly with Graeme on MSN yesterday, and he was none the wiser as to where the problem lies, and/or how to fix it.
Reading between the lines, and going on what has been already stated, it would seem that nothing can be fixed until the site gets moved to a new server, and we all know how long that took last time. I would then guess that the scripts need looking at. Now if no-one can gain access to the main admin control panel, then nothing can be sorted. Likewise with the forum area of the site, if the administrators can not get in, then the chances of anything being fixed are negligable to say the least.
I know people are keen to get back on there, but it will have to be a case of patience. Personally, I think it is terminal, however a rebuilding could happen. Main site version two can be built from the ashes of version one, and the forum could be transferred from PHPBB2 to PHPBB3, with everything in a stable condition. Whether it is possible remains to be seen, and whether the powers above wish it to happen also remains to be seen. Time will tell. _________________ It feels so empty without a signature, so here is some mindless gabble to occupy the space |

| is there no way a completely new site could be set up and members will be automatically re-directed to it from the error message at socceram.net? (i'm sure none of us knows every one of the members to tell them about a new site address!) |

If you are able to speak to Graeme, ask him to access cPanel and edit the database user.

From this error, it means the database user "socceram" has no access to read the phpBB database.
He can always set up a new site and backup the old site, or set up a temporary site. All is in the cPanel, if he can access it. _________________ 3.141592653589793238462643383279502884197169399375105820974944592307816406286208998628034825342

Neither of the administrators can access the cPanel, so for the moment we are stuck. _________________ It feels so empty without a signature, so here is some mindless gabble to occupy the space |

Just in case it sounded better coming from a man!!!!
If the problem was server overload, then surely this is a good idea?
People who have suggested this :-

Any chance of this option being reviewed?

| Surely you could just redirect people trying to get to the FORUM to the proboards official unofficial backup forum - same goes for updating the main site and putting a link to the backup. |

Any chance we could take the hint that he doesn't give a flying f*ck?
Let it die.
It's run its course and it was dire anyway. _________________ [img:af0aabb626]http://img29.imageshack.us/img29/1478/gtm22pl.jpg[/img:af0aabb626] |

That seems to be the general impression.
Still, it is a bit low not to tell people what is occurring. Even if it was one sentence of explanation for every £1000 of advertising revenue received due to the posters.
Low, low. low. |

Bottom line is he doesn't owe anybody anything. No-one forces anyone to post on LLP or keep the site running.
He hasn't been around for years and doesn't really give a **** because people are always there to pick up the pieces.
They don't have to.
I don't know how much he earns out of the site from ads and I don't really care, good luck to him.
But there have been a long list of posters who got sick of working so hard and ended up not bothering - a few of them even post here in this very thread.
It was great while it lasted but it's inhabited with f*ckmonkeys and idiots and all the good posters have gone or personal bickering dominates (and yes I am looking at myself)
Either start it again from scratch, new rules, new layout and no messing...
Or let it die and be grateful for the good years... _________________ [img:af0aabb626]http://img29.imageshack.us/img29/1478/gtm22pl.jpg[/img:af0aabb626] |
