Just a personal opinion of course but I sometimes like to read old topics. It'd also render the search function virtually impossible. I like the fact that the forum has been going for a while now and that the history is there for all to see.

I'm sure some people look at the site, see its had a lot of topics. posts etc and think "seems like a lot of people like this place" and then join. So in that way it helps as well. People get put off joining new forums because 99% of them don't take off. I know thats how I feel anyway.

If people are really desperate to make a new one then I stop talking about it and just do it. I think its worth waiting to have the site back in full when we can then carry on with the planned redesign that was literally just about to be uploaded.

Peej, you and others on here need to stop going straight to you defensive "well do it yourself" line whenever we ask a simple question.

It's not a criticism but the original question has never been answered - you can have the old topics there but in an archived format - simple really.

If Graeme came on and said "I make too much money from the site and people won't pay to advertise on a new one even if the old topics are archived" then fair enough. End of story and it's a fair point.

But all this "well get off your arses and do it yourself" is missing the whole point.

The site has been down what, 3 months now? It shows no sign of coming back up so I was merely asking why a new one shouldnt be done, the old one fixed and then archived as needed or replace the new one as desired.

As long as I can still be regarded as the awsome legend that I am, I don't care how it comes back.

I just spent **** ages reading all this (even though i skipped through SE13's posts as they bore me).

I'm on the fence to what is best, good points for new site, good points for old site, reading the first few pages of this thread i've realised i've missed so much of the banter from SAM.net, it's a shame it's completely **** up.

If a new site is easier to set up than to set the old one back up, then i would probably sway for new, it wouldn't be unsuccesful aslong as people were informed about it being set up and where to go, as probably a large amount of SAM.net members would transfer over and it would get a healthy amount of members to start anyway, and if a brand new site has a good fair amount of people all signing up in a very short time surely that would attract some sort of advertising interest if thats the worry?

As i think HH said, it would be possible to contact everyone about it if we wanted to.

And then yea, new lay out, new design, new rules, new mods, it can only get better really can't it, like people say it was getting a bit dire on the old one, was a bit like sitting in an empty field listening to yourself fart now and again.

So whatever happens, hopefully we can get this show on the road, because i'm losing way too much money on poker while the site is down.

(If you choose not to read all that i don't blame you)

Well if it hasn't been answered by now then why keep asking? Just sit back and see what happens. I'm sure most people can cope with it gone, i know I can. I'm not missing it, and thats not to say I wouldn't like it back. But I have other things to keep me occupied, especially around this time.

I'm sure Graeme is doing his best to get it back ASAP, why wouldn't he? It makes him money and I know if that was me I'd want it back online. Its just complicated and I can imagine very frustrating for Graeme when its out of his hands.

PJ, you've changed. You used to be my idol but you come over here, steal our women, steal SE13's admin job and now look at you - being reasonable and the voice of reason for "the man".

You sicken me and I used to love you like a brother.

Simmo - you've never been worshipped people tolerate you because you are ginger. That is all, I can honestly say I've never found anything you've ever said funny. But when I get a look at those flowing tahitian gold locks I piss myself laughing.

Skok - stop stealing other people's wireless internet you thieiving scally f*ck.

Happy New Year folks.

PS - More Kidley Pie in SoccerAM the return.

*awww rapes SE13 twice*

Still makes me laugh even now.

Which was sh*t let's be honest, fair play keeping it as it was but I'm telling you that it needs a shakeup.

I maybe on my own in that opinion (waits) but it's just some friendly advice.

It has got so stale and needs more then a facelift on the outside.

It's in need of a big warm hug.

Maybe from that big 'hug in a mug' fella off the telebox.

Poo isnt good, poo isnt best for everyone. Poo must be delt with but handled very carefully.

Im talking about getting it back to its former self as in before everyone starting arguing with eachother and slagging all newbies off etc

What I don't get is how Sky can say ANYTHING...

There is no copyright material on there.

Surely they can't claim every socceram. domain going?

Just mail them back and tell them their show has gone to the dogs.

Slags.
