I do not for a minute suppose that their name was done any good by the simple fact that the forum was like something out of a tourettes convention, not to mention all the other stuff going on there. If it was allowed to have been moderated as it should have been, they would have no problem. (You would never see a fraction of the stuff that went through here, let alone a Skysports related site)

The community was a complete split anyway, those in one group, those in another, and newbies who were chased away.

Personally I would go with the "start again" idea, different name, although keeping some of the socceram bit.... But don't sign the site over, not now, not ever.... If they want it that desperately, sell it! It was not a copyrighted name that I can see.

Only problem is, that the forum in particular had drifted so far away from socceram itself, and had turned into an utter free-for-all, that there would seem little point in starting it again as socceram, better off sending those who wish to continue the personal vendettas elsewhere, and keeping those genuinely interested in the show in the new place.

All that said, is it really worth it?

Ive asked on the phpbb forums about trying to fix it, but we need access to the Cpanel and FTP if we want to change anything. http://www.phpbb.com/community.....p;t=594879

There is litterally nothing i can do unless i can access the ftp and cPanel

Would any staff member be able to fix this?

Almost certainly....

It would be interesting, as per comment earlier, to see how long the community would last here!

I don't see any reasons why you should sign the site over to them.

Even if it gets involved in a lawsuit, you have a higher chance of winning.

That's why you see companies paying lots of money just to get the domain name which they want. They can't just file a lawsuit and expect to get the domain name.

Like i've said from day one, if they want it that bad they can pay Graeme for it. If not then don't budge on it, they've no case to fight for.

They want it because they know how successful the site is and they're pissed off that someone else is running it and not Sky. It wouldn't be any different no matter what people were posting on it. The simple fact is the site is doing very well. Its a busy site and Sky want in on it. They don't care about "who" the posters are, look on their site for evidence of that. Their SoccerAM "forums" are riddled with numpties.

They obviously haven't come to the .net version then - we cornered the market on retards, spackheads and Northern monkeys...

Easy what you are saying there Gav!

I'd go with the restart and rebrand but keep hold of the domain name and as everyone else thinks, sell it, if they want it that bad!

I found it weird how I can sign in to check for PMs Shocked Confused

Well, it's November 29th... The counters reset (sometimes) at the end of the month, and I doubt the target has been hit.....

Only you Chris would worry about hitting the targets for a site which has been dead for nearly two months now.

*chuckles*

Because the site is still being hosted from here. Ok, so the host has crashed, but it still needs paying for.

Bear in mind that RDP didn't cover last month, so unless they are pulling out all the stops on here, it'll take quite a shove from all SAM members to keep the hosting plan open.

*Awaits usual sh!t from usual people*
