I think that the entire gaming world is waiting until Starcraft 2 gets released. Everyone has high expectations about this game and that is absolutely normal if you remember the original Starcraft
The release is coming closer and closer. The only problem will be that I probably won't be able to play this until I get a new computer. Luckily for me I'm planning to buy a new computer this summer so that should fix everything _________________ .// Proud to be Lifeless for more then 4 years \\. |

I still got Starcraft on my computer and play it from time to time. The only thing I don't like about it is its hard to find a regular game on B.net. Everybody is into the UMS or "fastest map" type games (but of course, that is a flaw in the gamers, not the game )
I can't wait for #2 to come out. I'm just hoping they don't make it too much like Warcraft (a ton of spells, cartoon-y look, heroes, no definitive counter for units, if I want this then I will play Warcraft ) _________________ Rashy! |

No they aren't. Many people don't even play games on their computer. Many gamers (such as myself) only play games for consoles. _________________ http://strategywiki.org/wiki/Main_Page

if you consider yourself a gamer and haven't played the original starcraft, take up a new hobby because you haven't played one of the most popular games on the pc. Remember online gaming really didn't get popular on consoles until sega dreamcast when a modem was built on the system. starcraft came before that. i think i would have to play through starcraft again in order to get the story i don't remember it. i may refuse to buy this game even though i wanted it for like a decade. i got fed up with blizzard even though i like there storylines and gameplay |

That was just rude. I don't need to take up a new hobby because I didn't play a certain game. I don't have any plans to play the game at the moment. It doesn't interest me, and I don't play games based on popularity. _________________ http://strategywiki.org/wiki/Main_Page

That isn't a flaw at all. Use Map Settings game are the best part of Starcraft. I especially like "bound" maps, though my favorite ones aren't played anymore so I can't download them anywhere. Thats what I get for uninstalling Starcraft and taking a five or so year break. _________________

Its not a flaw in the game, its a flaw in the attitude of the online gamers
I prefer to play regular matches, but everybody else prefers to play UMS and Fastest. So maybe I'm the odd one out, a flaw in my attitude. Hopefully in SC2 they will add a game search like Warcraft has, where it will match you up with other players in a regular game. _________________ Rashy! |

| Playing ums maps is actually very entertaining. I've had starcraft for many years and I still play it occasionally. Of course I don't think starcraft is as much fun as warcraft 3. Dota FTW |

Eww, I can't stand DOTA, but probably because I'm not that good at it. Once again I prefer the standard games. Most of the UMS maps are made really poorly and are stacked, or I just don't find their concepts that entertaining. DOTA really stands out of this crowd, its just filled with a bunch of ego-istic kids (well okay, so are the standard games, but at least there I can beat them into submission ) _________________ Rashy! |

Starcraft is one of the best games ever created and its amazing if you think about how long it has already been out without updates, and people still play it as if it were knew. I don't have the game though anymore because my nephew is obsessed with it (he is 10 years old) and played it more than i did so i just let him have both discs.
I even loved the Nintendo 64 version, but mostly because you could play against your friends and stuff with split screen, and that was awesome.
I hope they keep the same gameplay and feel, that'll be awesome. So many of the great games ended up fading away because of gameplay changes in updates and later versions.
Will probably need to get a really good gfx card to play it though i'd expect since it'll probably be dx10 and everything right?
I'm gonna google some stuff about it real quick
cant wait though! _________________ http://www.damnidunno.com |

Well actually Blizzard is pretty good about making sure that their games will run on computers of many different specs. I am sure that they will make StarCraft 2 use dx10 if the computer has it, and if not resort to dx9. My computer has a hard time playing a lot of games (because its a pretty cheap laptop with really low-end hardware) and yet it runs Warcraft III really well, especially compared to other games from around that time period.
You may not need to upgrade your hardware to play StarCraft II (and I'm begging that I won't have to ) _________________ Rashy! |

Why close yourself inside a bubble; there's thousands and thousands of games on the PC that will never be on any console that have lasted the test of time and are still being played today, including Starcraft which has a internet following even today, 10 years after it was made. It isn't about the popularity, it's about the gameplay, and starcraft is a game that definately set the standard high when it came out, and even after. Hell, Blizzard is still updating the game; now that's a developer with a commitment to the community considering the game is being sold for 10 dollars or less for years now. _________________ The Gamer's Journal | Online Portfolio | Tanooki Rebirth | UNDATA |

It's not really about enclosing yourself in a bubble, it's about having no real desire to play the games. I personally won't play more than a handful of games in a year. There's no real need for me to go searching out for games which are on my PC (which is kinda dated at the moment), because I've still got plenty to play on my consoles.
That's not to say that I don't play PC games at all. I'll play them if they're good (I still need to pick up Orange Box for Portal), but I haven't bought a PC game for probably 5 or 6 years.
Starcraft doesn't really interest me. I went through my RTS stage a while ago (incidently, around the time that Starcraft was huge), but have no real desire to play another one (maybe because I was never really that good at them).
I can see how it'd be a big game though |
