Even though June is still a few hours away I think a June 2007 State of the L2P is in order.
Over the last few months L2P has undergone a few big changes. I want to detail some of those here and to look forward to our plan over the next few months.
In early April the Aesir server that powered Lifelesspeople.com itself, several other projects such as the Open Installer, and a portion of the L2P userbase was taken offline. The Aesir server was placed into service almost 4 years ago and was starting to show its age. At this time L2P uses the Asgard server as its primary server while maintaining only a small presence elsewhere.
Around this same time a few of the lesser used features of the service were also taken offline to reduce the amount of maintenance necessary to keep the servers secure and to increase the amount of resources available to websites hosted on the server. These include: Ruby on Rails, MySQL 4.1, RVSiteBuilder, and others. The up to date feature list can be found at http://www.lifelesspeople.com/hosting/
Other measures taken to reduce costs and increase resources available have allowed us to increase the amount of PBPP you will receive in writing a post. You should notice it being somewhat easier to gain your required PBPP quota.
Looking forward over the next few months I want to improve the overall L2P website and focus on our core services to do what we do best. _________________ * Knowledge Base * Wiki * Forum FAQs * |
