Pretty much want some ideas of what is thought of this site I am making. I only have the main page layout done at the moment and really want some criticism but also if you are going to criticize please be kind enough to offer your suggestion to a fix to the issue. Also the CSS of this will be posted in the bargain boutique for some editing and cleaning up.

Well I corrected some of that. I was using an eclipse for the background filler space of browsers viewing larger than 1000px. I removed that. Also I was looking at this in IE not firefox and didn't realize my main container was not 1000px wide so it was broken in other browsers. I fixed that. When you say background color are you saying not to have plan white for the main background? Any other comments?

The gradient in the bar doesn't fit. Change it to a light color with a light gray border

It all seems too plain for me, there is nothing that really captures my attention and makes me want to keep reading what is on the website. Eh, I don't know maybe cause its just the layout so far I don't know, but everything seems too plain to me, you should try to ad more content and images and stuff to grab the viewers attention and pull them through the website.

yeah, I am actually redoing the layout in a couple different ways. I might be migrating to a CMS, or creating one of my own. I know the layout will be differnt, won't have two side bars, and I have to work on the ticker and location of the menu links. Thanks to everyone for the imput.

No scrolling text! I hate scrolling text, especially one so poorly placed in the same gradient bar as the navigation menu. I can read it just fine the first time when it's still, I don't need it moving uncontrollably to hog my attention.

If you can't part with scrolling text, you should make it scroll just once via JavaScript, or have it stop scrolling altogether.

As far as the overall layout goes, I cannot give any criticism other than the ones the above have already said, but I personally think that de-italicizing the headers will make them look better.
