I'm talking about the real Super Mario Bros. 2 (not Dream Factory: Doki Doki Panic), the one not released outside of Japan until it was the SNES game, Super Mario All-Stars as Super Mario Bros.: Lost Levels.

Anyone play these games lately? I've been playing them for the past couple of days, and it really shows how some old games are so much better than what we've got out today.

I like Super Mario Bros. 2 a bit more than the first. The harder difficulty makes it more fun, plus the level design is better and more interesting. Plus, I've been able to pull off some pretty cool "glitches". I've gotten into the ceiling of one of the castle levels, a place where you are not supposed to get, and then got stuck at the end of the stage with no way of winning or losing at the very end because I was above Bowser in the ceiling. Also, I've been able to jump over some of the flags at the end of some of the stages. I think it's probably possible to do it at most every level, but I've only done like four or five. It's kinda weird to get past the flag because there is this block that is part of the castle past it that is solid, instead of just being in the background.

These games rock. If you haven't played them in a while (or ever!), I highly suggest you pick them up again. They're so great...

I love the original mario bros. 2 was not all that great (the mechanics were ok, but pulling turnips out of the ground, and throwing them at people, that's pretty boring!).

In my opinion, though, number three was the best - it returned to the dynamics of number 1, and just expanded on it so much - the different suits were a great idea, and world 8 was just so hard!

I own a Super Nintendo currently, and I have Mario All Stars for it. I've played the Lost Levels a few times, but I havent beaten it yet. It's alright, but I still prefer the original Mario, and Mario 3 the best.

The old Super Mario games were great. I don't know which version I used to play, never bothered to find out, really. But I remember it was great fun. They don't make such fun games often.

That's the one that I wasn't talking about. That game is actually Dream Factory: Doki Doki Panic, but with Mario characters pasted onto the actual characters. The real Super Mario Bros. 2 looks and plays nearly the same as the first, but I think the level design a lot better.

Super Mario Bros. 3 is a good game too, but I kinda like the extra challenge that the first two have where the camera cannot go backwards. That way you have to make sure you do everything you need to do before moving on (like getting into the ceiling or something).

The original Mario 2 is much harder in my view. From what I've heard, that was a big reason why it never got brought to America (until Mario All-Stars).

As for the Mario 2 that America got: it's fun, but too easy in my view. If I remember right, that game introduced Birdo into the Mario universe, as well as a few other characters.

3 is my personal favorite of the NES Mario games. Some of my other favorite Mario games are Mario RPG for Super NES, and Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door for GameCube.

I've personally played most of the Mario games over the years, and I can't wait for the newest games to come out. In November: Super Mario Galaxy comes out, as well as Mario+Sonic at the Olympic Games. The first Mario game for the Wii (Super Paper Mario) was fun, but was a bit too easy and short.

The original Mario Bros. 2 or (Lost Levels) was indeed much harder than the first game which is why the other version probably was seen in North America instead. I don't think I ever actually beat Lost Levels, even when I got it in Mario All-Stars. Like most people here my favorite Mario game would probably be Super Mario Bros. 3 for the Nintendo.

I just beat Mario 3 the other day. It's the first time I've beat it in a few years. The last world was frustrating me a lot, I had to use 2 clouds to skip levels. Silly

I was never a fan of the levels where the camera moved automatically. And, if I recall correctly, that's pretty much every level in World 8 of Super Mario Bros. 3.

I believe you are correct. I found the levels usually fine, and a nice change of pace.

I prefer to just run through the levels as fast possible and pull off sweet tricks like jumping onto a pipe that has a pirhana plant coming out (but be slightly to the side of it), and then jump off the pipe, all without getting killed.

Mushroom powerups are for noobs. Tiny Mario all the way!

Man, I really love playing the old school Mario 1-3, World, Lost Levels..etc. I still whip out the controller once in a while for old times sake. Smile

I think I've finished Super Mario World like a gazillion times tho because it's the one I'd always end up playing for some strange reason when I was little. Smile

All in all I still kick around the shells and stomp the toads every once in a while.

I love the original, with DUCK HUNT! YES! Duck hunt! I have number two on Super Mario World on the SNES. I heard that the actual number two wasn't number two or something. I have no clue. From what I've played, I've enjoyed them both.

I love the original Mario too, I am not too sure about the newer versions as I have not played them yet.
