Wow... I'm guessing you have a NTSC Wii then. I should've done that Oh well.
Personally, I can see the Wiimote + nunchuck control scheme be fairly reasonable. It'd be essentially no different to the Gamecube controller, except your hands are a bit more free to move around - Probably not what you're used to, but shouldn't really impact your gaming.
I really want this games *Shakes fist at Nintendo* |

I hope they release a multi-disc soundtrack for the game sometime. One of the best parts of the game for me is all the songs they included. Is it just me, or are game soundtracks usually hard to find? Online is usually the only place that I ever see them for sale. Even video game stores by me rarely carry soundtracks. _________________ http://strategywiki.org/wiki/Main_Page

I dunno about finding game soundtracks... I suppose if I wanted to listen to one I would just play the game. When doing other things, I listen to real music--stuff that was composed specifically to be listened to, not heard in the background.
I finally got all of the characters and stages and beaten SSE. Go me! I've also had to play basically all the game modes (if I've missed one, wow, there are a lot of modes). I've got to say though, I'm really disappointed with Home Run Contest. In Melee, each character had to actually use their specific moves to smash the bag really far, but the need for that is gone now that there is a wall around the platform. I can just literally throw the bat at the bag like 5 times, then smash it with the bat and I'll get 1700+ feet easy. I don't know what all the challenges are that deal with HRC yet (assuming there are more), but I've got like 65k combined feet without any skill whatsoever. _________________

Most of the Nintendo franchises (with the exception of the most recent ones) have been around for a while. I don't think its' "rehasing them" when a sequel comes out. A sequel has the same general concepts, but it plays different, new plot, new characters and so on. By your rehash logic, every sequel is a rehashed game of the original.
As for sports: they sell good, but frankly what else is there to change with them? A major league baseball game simply can't have wacky rules just to get a new look. They can add new features: but it's still the same general game with a new roster. I enjoy Mario sports games usually, as they are a new twist to the sport. It's a nice change of pace, instead of playing the same old sport many times. However, if this happened to a MLB, NBA or other licensed game: it wouldn't be right and many fans would be upset.
I'm not a huge sports game fan, so I don't buy the newest games every year. I buy one, and it lasts me a few years at least. I don't understand why people buy the newest Madden each and every year. It's still football: just with a new roster and some new features usually. Most sports games have "create a player" options, so you technically can update rosters yourself. |
Well when I said rehashing I didn't mean every sequel... just some of them that start to get to a point where they are just repetitive and the actual gameplay doesn't change from the previous versions.
Take Mario Party for example. There are 8 games in the series. I think things started to get a little rehashed after the 3rd game, don't you?
Anyways, I have the utmost respect for most of the games that Nintendo puts out there. But it's hard not to realize that a lot of the stuff can simply be an old game that they brought back, for lack of any better ideas kicking around the board room.
That's one of the main reasons why I left Nintendo and went for the Xbox 360 after the Gamecube generation. I just wanted to experience games from other companies, and I'm not disappointed.
I'll maybe pick up a Wii when it gets really dirt cheap, but for now I just can't justify it for the few games that interest me.
Back on topic though, I will be giving this game a try as soon as I can get my cousins to get the game, since they have a Wii. _________________ Come visit Shattered Abstracts! (Photoblog!) |

| This is one of the most exciting releases this year for me. I've had countless hours of fun playing Melee with friends and family alike - so I can't wait for the new installment. One of my friends will be getting this on release so I really can't to get a chance to play it, I'll probably stick to using the old GameCube controller when it does come out. |

I agree there. Mario Party needs to end or get a new look in my view. However, Nintendo probably wont do it. Everytime a new game comes out, it still sells very well, so Nintendo thinks nothing is wrong.
With games such as Mario and so on: they don't seem very rehashed to me. Galaxy is a great new twist on things, as is Super Paper Mario to name a few.
Anyway, back to Brawl discussion. I've unlocked all of the characters so far, and I must say Sonic is horrible. I like using Snake though. The character lineup is decent to a point. But I think they got a bit lazy with it. Too many Melee characters return. Why exactly do we need Toon Link? He just replaces Young Link basically. Characters such as Mr. Game & Watch and Jigglypuff are poor, and shouldn't have returned.
Is it me, or are events a bit too easy this time around? Even in hard difficulty, many don't seem very difficult. _________________ http://strategywiki.org/wiki/Main_Page

That's probably because Nintendo learned back in the late 80s to not just rehash a game, which is why they went with a different game for Super Mario Bros. 2 outside of Japan (even though I think the original Super Mario Bros. 2 is the best of the Mario games, without Super Mario Galaxy in consideration since I haven't played it yet).

Funny, I think Sonic is far superior to Snake. The way Snake is controlled is just too different from the other characters, so it's hard to get used to him when you play each character roughly the same amount (random) and all the rest play about the same. I agree Toon Link isn't that great of a character, but Mr. Game & Watch and Jigglypuff are alright. Mr. Game & Watch is actually pretty good if you give him a chance, unfortunately though, Jigglypuff has been somewhat nerfed since Melee. Jigglypuff used to be king with Rest, but it has been weakened a lot.

A couple events gave me a little bit of trouble, but I attribute the easiness to me being a lot better at the game since playing Melee's event matches. _________________
