Some of my favorites from that decade include:

Alf: the furry alien that crash landed on Earth.

Breakfast Club: a classic "brat pack" movie.

Fraggle Rock: these were made by Jim Henson (creator of the Muppets). In my view, one of the best children's shows in the 80's. There is a Fraggle Rock movie in the works.

Ghostbusters: the comedy hit that involved scientists that became ghost hunters. This is one of my favorite Bill Murray movies.

Gummi Bears: a cartoon about bears that get the ability to bounce from drinking gummi bear juice.

The Simpsons: one of the best cartoons ever started in 1987 as a short during the Tracey Ullman show. It became a show in December 1989.

The Wizard: a great video game movie. It's filled with cheesy lines, but it's very entertaining and has great nostalgia value.

What favorites from the 80's does everyone else have?

The 80s were terrible. The only really good TV thing that I can think of right now that came out in the 80s is The Simpsons, but the newer episode aren't that good.

Now, music is a completely different story. There were tons of great bands that came out in the 80s: Motley Crue, wait... nevermind. All of the other bands that was going to mention here actually formed in the 70s. The 80s were terrible (the 80s were so bad that Wikipedia doesn't even redirect "80s" to "1980s", yeah, the 1880s rocked that hard).

Wikipedia wouldn't do that redirect, as there is many 80s in general. Your logic fails.

Do you hate television that much? There was plenty of other great shows that were in the 80s: Married with Children, The Cosby Show, Coach, Muppet Show, Pee-Wee's Playhouse, Press Your Luck and much more.

I don't hate television, I just hate bad TV. Married with Children is an alright show, but most of what I watch airs now or began in the 90s.

I only liked Smurfs, Jetsons and Transformers of those you listed. I believe Alvin and Jetsons were 80s and 90s.

I forgot about Wonder Years as well. I enjoyed that show, even though the series finale wasn't what I expected at all.

Alvin and the Chipmunks ran from 1983 to 1990 (but the original Chipmunks cartoon was from 1962-1963). The Jetsons ran from 1985-1987, again with the original series airing from 1962-1963.

They've got some pretty 80s animation styles, I think.

What are you talking about?! New Order, The Jesus and Mary Chain, Sonic Youth, Pixies, Bad Religion, Nirvana and heaps more were all formed in the 80s.

Also....Motley Crue...surely you could add Warrant, Poison and Guns 'N Roses to that list. I won't comment on their status as great bands though Silly

I didn't even think to mention Guns 'n' Roses. Surprised
I enjoyed Appetite for Destruction, but I haven't really listened to anything else by them.

As for the other bands you listed, can't say I really listen to them outside of games like Guitar Hero and Rock Band.
