I'm new to all this hosting malarky, and I don't know how it works. So I get 400PBPP, I apply for hosting then what?
Is the direct address to the files I upload server.lifelesspeople.com/username? |

| O_o That's not what I meant. When you sign up for hosting what is your website address if you had a subdomain//domain account? .com.ru? |

If you get a subdomain account, you get http://yourname.l2p.net/ (there are, or were, a number of domains you could choose from to have your subdomain under). If you get a domain account, you'll need to have your own domain. In that case, your address would be http://www.yourdomain.com/. Before, when I last had hosting, you could get .com.ru/.net.ru/.org.ru domains, but I don't know what's going on with that now. At the time those cost a certain number of VSP or some other type of point per year. |

| One more question. If I had a subdomain account and I wanted to use ftp it would be myname.l2p.net + password, right? Sorry, I'm currently having a wave of blonde moments. |

You have to get a certain amount of PBPP (Pay By Post Points) to apply for a hosting plan. This is the plan access amount. You can see how much access PBPP is required to apply for a plan in the Hosting Panel.
Then, you apply for hosting. But you don't apply then stay away from this forum.
The hosting is provided free-of-charge, as in money, but not as in points. You have to get half the required amount of PBPP each month so your hosting does not get suspended. How much PBPP does each plan require each month? You can view it at your hosting panel.
What if you don't have enough PBPP? If you have VSP (Virtual Shop Points), you can use them indirectly. Convert them to RDP (Rainy Day Points), at 5 VSP for 1 RDP. So if you need to pay 400 PBPP each month and you have 250 PBPP, you need to have 150 RDP, so they add up to 400.
What if you don't have 400 PBPP to pay and you don't have any RDP? If you have half of the required, which is 200 PBPP, your hosting will not get suspended, but you will enter negative. After the deduction/convertion, you will have -200 PBPP.
But don't panic! Just keep posting until you are out of negative, then work up to 400, or at least half again. Take note that even if you are in the negatives, you still have to pay for your hosting.
What if you don't have half of the required and you don't have any RDP either? You will get suspended. But all is not lost! Your files are safely kept in the system until your account gets terminated. If you fail to achieve half of the required PBPP for 2 months in a row, your account gets terminated. (Take note that even though you are suspended, you still have to pay for your hosting.)
Lifeless People offer both type of hosting, Domain Hosting and Subdomain Hosting. You can have your domain hosted at Lifeless People (remember to point your domain's nameservers to Lifeless People), or use a Lifeless People subdomain, for example <something>.l2p.net.
What are the differences? A lot. You won't get to have addon/parked domains and subdomains with Subdomain Hosting. With Domain Hosting, you can have <subdomain>.yourdomain.com. Sounds cool, right? So if you are going serious with your website, get a domain. It's not that hard.
For FTP, you just use your cPanel username and password.
If you are on Domain Hosting, you can always just use ftp.yourdomain.com. If you are on Subdomain Hosting, you can try using ftp.something.l2p.net, though I am not sure. But one thing you must know: asgard/aesir.lifelesspeople.com always work, whether you have Domain Hosting or Subdomain Hosting.
I mentioned about asgard/aesir. What are these? Those are the two servers responsible for hosting your account. You can't choose which server to host your website, you will be hosted on which server is nearer to you, thus having faster speed. You will be notified on which server you are hosted on.
For cPanel access, you can also use asgard/aesir.lifelesspeople.com:2082. The URL to your cPanel is displayed in your hosting panel. _________________ 3.141592653589793238462643383279502884197169399375105820974944592307816406286208998628034825342
