Poem in a series that i'm tying into the graphic novel i want to write, but need artists..lol. Tell me what you think

There are Faster Ways to Kill Yourself

In case of fire, run screaming
In case of realization, look around the smoke filled premises
A lost poet sits at his desk, isn't it the end of this?
He rolls another cigarette, words spill out, but his mind is some others.
Surrogate mother, to the accepted.
Whose axiom, decrepid, lost in the passing of time.

And so passed another great
Who'd never known just how much fate the world had placed in him
One last chance, they said, you owe your annuity in advance, they said, words for breath.
So fell he, that we'd never know, and never care.
And that last dying issue, he was cut off for complying.

As most do, he awoke, startled and fearful against the monster that had spoke.
But dreams fade, as memories linger, only to haunt us, only to hinder.
Fire to the match is your story, as the eggs you laid never hatch to see mornings glory
As the last to leave picks up the check, where were you when they ducked out and left
Your hands on the keyboard, your thoughts wandering toward, someplace else.
Your mouth clamped around that cigarette, the work of a minute, perfectly rolled, is burning away
There are faster ways to kill yourself.
