I'm trying to request hosting and I went to the link where you are supposed to submit your requests and I get an error:

Quote:
Not Found
The requested URL /forum/hosting.php was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

What do I do? I would like to get started on hosting ASAP. Thanks!

You must have, however, 400 PBPP to request hosting at least.

It will not let me gain more PBPP Sad Is there a 50 post limit in 24 hours? It has been over 24 hours since I signed up, and I'm not getting any PBPP for posting...

Yes, there is some limit of posts per day credited with PBPP. You can find more info on this stuff in the Knowledge Base. Also searching the forum can be quite useful.

Also, from my previous hosting service I downloaded my phpnuke database. Now If I want to upload it to my lifeless people account how would I do this? The file is about 20 megs. The file extension is .gz or tar.gz not sure.

Where do I upload it in Cpanel? I have yet to get my account, but I would like to know how to do this, so right when I get my account I can get started.

20mb is fine, although i'm not sure if the "net2ftp" software is working well right now. i got a problem loading the page correctly. so, it would be advisable that you have to extract your gunzip file to your system first and once extracted run a ftp software like "smartftp".

Are you familiar with this software? if not there are articles already posted regarding usage and instruction of using smartftp to upload your files at the lifelesspeople servers. here try this link for a simply howto, but this thing is a flash movie file. loads longer in slow connection.
Howto Articles

on using smartftp, remember that you must upload multiple files through queue mode, this way if you got a mess-up on uploading... the whole upload would not stop at some certain point. In queue mode open up "6-8 workers" for much speedy process of uploading multiple files.

Once you got your hosting account, you can do things needed to be done as soon as possible, like setting up emails, adding subdomains, parking, addons, whatever.

And when you mean uploading 20mb of database, then you must go to the cPanel to access phpymyadmin for uploads of database. I did have problems before on uploading that large amount of database, but there is a max of 50mb upload the problem is that on certain times large database uploads tends to fail. and if that gunzip failed to upload, you could extract it then copy and paste the whole sql entries or chopped parts of it into the "Run SQL query/queries" tab of phpmyadmin.

Thats actually one of the reasons I left my old host. My website got hacked and distroyed so I needed to back it up. So I deleted everything and attempted to upload the phpnuke backup files and it failed. I tried 5-6 times, and contacted the admin of the servers, and he was no help at all.

The point of a backup is so you can restore your files easily. I should have to try 20-30 times to upload a file before it finally working.

Thanks for your post Mr.Fraud I hope to try some of the things you mentioned when I get my account.

Also, anyone know how to make phpnuke more secure. My site was not very popular had like 100+ members and a traffic rank of ~400k but I got hacked like once a month. Sometimes it was a quick fix and I was backup and running othertimes It was not that easy.

I even had security software installed. How can they hack phpnuke that easily is it really that unsecure? Are there ways to secure it? Because I really found that I liked phpnuke a lot. It has some real nice features and is quite easy to use.

Thanks for reading!

I find that the servers at l2p are well monitored, this is one of the reason I like l2p too...

Personally the last i checked, yes it is. Not sure about the latest release though. It has been a while since I played with CMS and other PHP apps.
