Reading the article, I have to make this one observation:

The UN likes to talk big, but when has it ever done anything since the Korean War?

Making these big and bold proclamations is fine and dandy, but if they're ever serious about something, do it! Quit sitting on your hands!

Whether you believe in global warming or not, you still have to agree that there are major environmental issues in this world. Taking baby steps toward "cleaning up" won't hurt. But the UN won't even do that. All it does is cry.

The war is still going on!!

Armistice pffft.

As for the global warming thing, the Kyoto agreement should have some effect on emissions.

As of this week, the U.S will become the only 'civilised' nation not to ratify.

The Australians have voted in a Prime Minister (probably their first president as well) who has agreed to the terms.

All together now, sing along, America, America

Hmmm, and I really see China slowing down their emissions. Or for that matter India. CO2 is naturally occuring. I mean cows fart more of it than Man produces.
