| I can see why the government might not want to hand over the money to him because he is an illegal immigrant, but if he worked that hard for all that time to save the money that he made washing dishes, then I really do not see why he can't have it. Sure, I would imagine there is a whole bunch of legal red tape attached to this one since he was not legally in the country, that he hadn't paid taxes on the money because of it and various other things, but I would hope that there would be some kind of arrangement that could be made. You would think that they could have found some kind of translator at the airport in the beginning to explain things to him considering, but I would imagine that does not clear up the whole situation. Obviously he must be pretty smart in a way though to contact a lawyer in this situation. I would be curious to see how it ends up for him. I wonder if he will be able to recover the money that he made or not. I guess time will tell. |

Although he worked hard for his money, he was there illegally, which means the money he had earned was illegal.
Now, technically speaking, there is nothing wrong with the US government doing that - because he earned illegal money.
The only reason people are having second thoughts is because they feel pity for the guy washing dishes.
Let's be honest here: this is about the LAW, not about people's feelings.
That is all.
Cheers. |
