So, I'm sitting here thinking. I turned on My Chemical Romance - The Black Parade, and I'll listen to the whole damn cd. After it, I could turn on Anybody Killa and do the same for him. And if I felt like it, I could go turn on Splashdown, and do yet again, the same thing. One cd, all the way through.

Is anyone else here varied in their tastes to the extent of being able to go from Disco to Metal to Rap? Because, in all seriousness, I could, and have done it before.

With that said too, is anyone like me to where when you listen to an artists, you prefer to listen to the cd fully through? Like, sure I can put my computer on shuffle and call it a day, but the majority of the time, I turn on the first song to a cd and just let it go. Like, the other day I was listening to Anybody Killa, and after that I just let it play through my library. Through a guy called AX11, which is creative commons, through two Beatles cds, through a Blaze Ya Dead Homie cd, and so on. It just sparks me as weird.

Also, on a side note, I am putting up a poll for no true reason, but out of curiosity, which one do you not like as much? Because me, I don't really "hate" any music. I just don't like some as much as others.

I don't see why that's strange. You listen to what you feel like listening to; if you don't feel like listening to something specific, you listen to what comes on.

Also, I don't really think "christian" counts as a genre; it's just another genre, except the lyrics are always about Jesus.

I dunno, like, it always seems strange to me. I mean, like how varied do you get? Also, Christian is sooo a genre. Silly

That was a tough choice, since I listen mostly to pop, sometimes to rock, and pretty much never listen to any other music. I decided that the most torturous thing would be to listen to a full Rap cd, though, therefore it's my choice.

Honestly though, as far as full albums in a row go, I can only listen to Shakira that way. Shakira is just so awesome. Otherwise I get bored pretty quick after several songs by the same singer/band and need a new flavor. Listening to an entire album of Rap or *shudder* Disco - that's Torture with a capital 'T'.

Hehe, then you would hate to be in my room. It happens often. Though, right after, I'm able to listen to AFI, like I am now.

And Pharmer, no one hates metal. Wink But still, the poll wasn't the important part. Silly

I think it is hard to hate an entire genre, although there are vaste swathes of the musical landscape that I can't listen to.

But, I always give stuff a listen at least once, at least i then have an educated opinion . . .

Well, the genres given are too simple, I mainly listen to rock and country but I do switch it around some. And the specific genres given can be the same thing, like switchfoot or P.O.D. they're Christian Rock. Bleh, I'm a music freak. Silly

Christian is a genre, but it applies to the lyrics only. For example there is Christian pop, Christian rock, rap, etc. (I never heard of Christian disco, though).
But anyway, lyrics about Jesus are not really my thing. Silly

I listen to a few genres, mainly electronic and rock. I am not being very specific here, though. There is a lot of electronic and rock music that I don't like.

Sometimes I listen to full albums, sometimes I put a certain artist on shuffle. I never play random tracks from the media library and I rarely create a playlist (I just switch between albums/artists when I get bored with the current style).

In my eyes, 'Christian' is just a modifier for existing genres. In other words, you take a music genre, but slice the target audience greatly.

As for listening to CDs all the way through. The only one that I really do that with is Trans-Siberian Orchestra's Beethoven's Last Night. And, that's only if I happen to be listening to them for the sixty odd minutes that it takes to listen to the whole CD.

Unintentionally, though, I have listened to Elect The Dead (or any other album by a band that only has one CD, like Flyleaf) all the way through. That is because I almost always listen to my music by choosing a specific artist.

Actually I do.

I always had that problem: I like a lot of bands so I can´t indentify with one style only and I dont fint on most of the sites I visit because I always have some different tastes with some of the others.

Look, I listen to this (so you can see the difference):
- Skid Row
- Dire Straits
- The Beatles
- Gun´s and Roses
- Nirvana
- Rolling Stones
- Aerosmith
- The La´s
- Ramones
- Led Zeppelin
- Spandau Ballet
- The Doors

See? nothing in common...

Personally, I wouldn't consider Christian a genre, but rather a sub-genre instead since it is found within many other genres e.g. Christian Rap, Christian Rock etc.

But as a rule whenever I get a new album I always listen to every song on the album in its full entirety at least 3 times. It's the only way you can discover good tracks on the album that haven't been released as singles, and I find listening just once isn't enough because sometimes tracks grow on you, so you need to listen to it a few times.

My tastes aren't very varied, I suppose.

I listen to these genres:

- Hip-Hop
- Gangsta Rap
- G-Funk
- Hyphy
- Reggaetón
- Bachata
- Bachatón
- Merengue
- Latin
- Timba
- Romantikeo
- Malianteo

Some you probably will not have heard of, but they are all linked in some way or another.

There are times when I might listen to an album all the way through, but I guess it depends on the situation and where I am when I am doing it. If I am in the car I might pop in a cd and listen to it all the way through if I am going on a long ride if it is something that is especially good in my opinion. Though usually I spend a lot of time listening to mix cds that I have put together from songs that I have on my computer. If I have a new cd and it is something that I enjoy I will probably listen to it a few times to get used to the new songs and the ones I like the most I might listen to more. I guess I never really thought about it.

With the types of music I do not really listen to Christian music, but I guess I do not really have a problem with it. I really do not like rap music. That is about the only kind of music that does not appeal to me, but that is not really entirely true either. There are some rap artists that I do not mind listening to when they are on, but it is a limited set of that music that I can actually tolerate. For the most part I just simply do not like rap music. Other than that I can pretty much listen to anything without complaint. I have always had a broad spectrum of music surrounding me so I am open to checking out different genres of music every now and then.

Yes, I didnt understood the question, but I also listen to full albums of one band.
Some albums are made to be listened track by track, for example, conceptual albums like Dark side of the Moon - Pink Floyd, Pyramid - The Allan Parsons Project or Discovery - Daft Punk.
When I first hear a band I like to listen to a greatest hits first and then concrete albums, so I only do this with the bands I really like.
