My nephew had an Acer laptop, and he complains that the laptop speakers were too soft. I tried using it and true enough, I can hardly hear anything when I played some dvd clips on it. He don't prefer getting external speakers or headphones as that would means additional stuff to carry along with. Is there any way to increase the volume, either by hardware modification of the laptop speakers or software manipulation ? Appreciate any help and advice, thanks alot.

Just like how someone always asks if the computer is plugged in when someone else has trouble turning it on...

Have you turned up the volume on the speakers? On Windows you can go to the Control Panel and choose Sound and adjust the System Volume.

I did go the Control Panel > Sound and Audio Devices. There are five tabs there, I tweak almost everyone of them. I have read the other posts, and place the volume icon on task bar so I could easily adjust the volume level. All settings were at its maximum level and still the sound output is low. Connected external speakers sounds okie though.

Go to Control Panel, then select "Sounds and Audio Devices". If you can't see this option switch to Classic View.

You should see a "Speaker Volume". Click on the button and adjust the volume.

I have never tried it myself, but I assume it should helps.
