Thing is here, and I will use a comparative with Arsenal.

We originally signed Dennis Bergkamp, and in his first season he did not smack fifty into the onion bag, and he was, at the time, slated as a waste of money. Just looking back, perhaps a few slices of humble pie have been eaten by various journalists over the years, and possibly a few more wish never to comment about it ever again.

Was Tevez actually signed to bang thirty plus in a season? Possibly not, and much the same as Dennis Bergkamp, he was never going to do so. The assists count, and without them, there would be no goals for any of the top strikers.

Actually, I thought his reaction was fantastic, and summed up the passion for football after scoring. I could watch that over and over again, even as a Gooner.

Backtracking slightly, I hope he can shove the current media writings right back in their faces, just as Bergkamp did at Arsenal.

Meantime, there is still the small matter of avoiding the drop..... Times are bleak. I really can not see West Ham United escaping from this, but all the time there are still games to play, and mathematically it is still possible, do not ever give up hope, Mister Hammer.

Sorry SE13 but there is no way I have any hope left of avoiding the drop. West Ham as a team have not performed this season. There is absolutely nothing in recent performances to suggest they are going to preform in the last few months of the current premiership season.

Of course it is still mathematically possible and the fat lady hasn't sung yet. I believe the club and all it's staff (including players) have already started planning for next season in the coca cola divisions. I just hope we can start again with or without Curbs and rebuild West Ham under Eggy's ownership.
I also hope it's just one season and not two, three or four or more seasons we spend out of the premiership.

Well, a valuable away win at Ewood Park yesterday by two goals to one is a fairly good start to the recovery process. Blackburn Rovers are in contention for a UEFA Cup slot, so three points there counts as a major scalp. The deficit is now down to eight points, which equates to three wins, with another eight games left to play.

The proverbial fat lady has not yet warmed her vocal chords.

Where does one start with West Ham V Blackburn?

If it's controversy you're after then look no further then the match Saturday.
West Ham won it 2-1 with two highly controversial goals from Carlos found my shooting boots Tevez and Bobby Hitman Zamora.
Blackburn will quite rightly feel aggrieved they didn't win that game, you won't find a West Ham fan anywhere that will say different.
But West Ham have found a new hero to worship. I don't even remember signing him. He goes by the name off Jim Divine. His last job was a linesman or 'assistant referee to give him his correct title. But Saturday he was on West Ham's side.
West Ham's first goal came by the way off a very dubious penalty decision. Too be honest I'm not sure it was a penalty, but the referee and Jim divine were. Up step the hero of the season Carlos Tevez to Cooley slot home in the bottom right corner of the net. I make that two goals in his last two games now. AS long as he keeps scoring you never know! Well West Ham fans do know and have for a while that we are going down. But whilst the door is still ajar, we can still see light.
The second goal wasn't a goal but it was a goal! Confused? So was everyone apart from West Ham's new hero Jim Divine, he knew straight away it was a goal. And like always, I respect the lineman's decision, always have and always will!!!!
After the ball was cleared from the line after West Ham almost scored, it fell to Bobby the hitman Zamora who whacked it towards the goal line only for it to smash against Carloz Tevez who was in an offside position on the goal line to inadvertently ricochet the ball out and back into play. This is where our friend the lino came into play. He judged Carlos Tevez to be over the goal line. Which in turn meant he was off the pitch and therefore not in an offside position. And secondly he judged the ball had crossed the line and therefore was a goal. Tv pictures show quite clearly the ball was on the line and Carlos Tevez was also in an offside position. So that made the goal offside for starters and as it didn't cross the line it was never a goal.
When you're in the position West Ham are this season, we'll take anything in our favour! Off course I feel gutted for the Blackburn fans, I know what I would feel like if it happened against West Ham. But in football controversial decisions happen every week, some weeks they go for you, others they don't.

Maybe it's time for a video referee like they have in football?

West Ham are off the bottom of the table for the time being. I just hope they can keep climbing and get fourth from bottom. Big ask as I think we are ten points away. Really we have to rely on Wigan and Sheffield United to keep losing and West Ham to keep winning!

There are times when teams get the rub of the green, although not usually when they are at the foot of the table. What goes around, comes around, and I feel certain that Wet Spam have been on the other end of such decisions this season, and I have no doubt that they will in the future.

Swings and roundabouts, West_Ham_Hammer, swings and roundabouts! Make the most of the moment, and celebrate it! At the minute, high spots are rare, so grab them with both hands, and let the entire World know that you are on the top of it!

I don't know about swings and roundabouts SE13. I think we have been on the slide. Nearly at the bottom of it ready too fall into oblivion (aka Coca cola championship)

They do have a good chance, albeit luckily after a surprise win over a dominating Arsenal who had to be denied by the post twice and from some nice saves. Credit to Green, a brilliant performance.

I wouldn't be surprised if they are out of relegation zone by next weekend. The two nearest relegation battlers, Charlton and Sheff Utd both have a tough game next and West Ham have a real chance when they play Sheff Utd this Saturday. Whether they will keep out of the relegation zone is another question, as they still have the big two left in their fixture.

I think West Ham shocked everyone on Saturday with that win, me included.

A, West Ham were the first team to win at Arsenals new ground Emirates.

B, We got absolutely slaughtered and had Robert Green the West Ham goalkeeper to thank for saving our embarrassment of a double figure scoreline.

Just goes to show that anything can happen in football. Just because you are a top 4 team doesn't mean you should take for granted you are going to beat the team languishing in the relegation zone. West Ham are on a roll at the moment and I hope they stay rolling until the end of the season.

As I write this Wigan have just drawn with Aston Villa, which means they are still deep in trouble at the wrong end of the table. If West Ham and it's a big if, can keep winning we can catch up Wigan and Charlton and Fulham aren't out of the sh*t just yet. All we can do is keep winning and hope other results go our way. But with Chelsea and Manchester United still to play, well....... But then as was proven yesterday, anything can happen.

Once again Bobby Zamora found his touch in front of goal, been a long time coming! He looks like the goalscorer he was in the first half dozen games of the season. I think Zamora and Carlos Tevez compliment each other well. Carlos Tevez had a quiet game by his standards yesterday, luckily the rest of the squad had a brilliant game.

Next up is Sheffield United who sit 2 points and one place in front of us in the relegation zone. To say this is the proverbial six pointer is an understatement. Win this and we move to spitting distance of safety. Mind you it's Chelsea at home the following Wednesday which is being shown on Sky sports. I tried to get tickets for this as I wanted to take someone to there first ever game at West Ham. Finding shergar alive and well with Elvis as Jockey would have been easier!
Suppose we can go to the pub and watch it, such hardship.

Just one problem I have though, this fa charge hanging over our heads.
I think if we stay up and the fa hit us with a point reduction that sends us down then they had better board up the fa headquarters and get police protection for the riot that will no doubt follow.
I think should we get a point reduction it should be suspended until the start of the 07-08 season.

Interesting to note that The Football Association seem to be dragging their heels over this enquiry. I suggest that they are doing this quite deliberately, as other teams in the drop zone are screaming for points deductions and so on. Should The Football Association leave the final resluts until the middle of the summer break, then any punishment would only take effect at the start of next season. That should suit West Ham United right down to the ground.

Ouch!

A hefty defeat at the hands of relegation rivals Sheffield United at Brammal Lane will be a bitter pill to swallow. Worse still, it could prove to be another nail in the coffin.

But there are five games left to play, and a potential fifteen points up for grabs. Given that the gap is only five points between The Hammers and safety, all is not yet lost. If West Bromwich Albion could do it, then surely West Ham United can?

If they'd been in the right frame of mind starting the season they wouldn't be down there. They're down there for one reason and one reason only in my opinion, the arrogance and big headedness of some of their so called 'best players'. They played above themselves last season and in my opinion many of the players feel they're better than they actually are.

Why should last week's game be the catalyst? They beat Arsenal earlier in the season, why shouldn't that have been a catalyst?

They've actually started to play decent, and with the exception of today's result have got some fine results of late.

Other teams can recover from a poor start to a season. Why West Ham United did not remains to be seen, but there is the arguement about the change of management to throw into the mix. Largely, a new manager would have his own ideas, and not nessesarily the players he inherits either.

There was also way too much hype early doors about the new signings, which seemed to detract somewhat from the football and the results, which really worked against The Hammers.

But all the time that the mathematics are possible, West Ham United remain as a Premiership team.

The change of manager was need in my opinion. Pardew was on a downward spiral and had lost control of the team. He had nothing left at the club. But you're right, I think the reason is because Curbishley inherited Pardew's team. Only now is his team coming through and the results, although not consistent, are improving. They're playing some beautiful football at times.
