Beautiful football does not always scoop honours. Much as it really ought to, it will never happen.
I suppose West Ham United can look forward to regaining their position in the top flight next season with comparative ease should they go down, but the point remains, that they really should not be in this position right now, and face the fight of their lives to avoid the dreaded drop. _________________ It feels so empty without a signature, so here is some mindless gabble to occupy the space |

I'm not too sure where you get the idea that West Ham are going to come straight back up should they go down? When West Ham went down a few seasons back it took them two attempts at the playoff final to get back to there home.
Even the most cocky West Ham fan knows it's not going to be easy to gain promotion back to the premiership at the first attempt. Do you remember Queens park rangers? Wimbledon? Nottingham Forest to name a few.
Anyway, back to tonight, Chelsea at Upton park. After Manchester United's win last night over Sheffield United they need three points as much as we do to keep in the chase.
Unfortunately for me I couldn't get a ticket. Entirely my fault as I left it way to late to apply for one. I was intending to take a friend (who supports Chelsea *spits*) She has never been to a game before (Glory supporter) and I sort off said I would take her. So bang goes my plan if we lost to let everyone around know that she was a Chelsea fan and watch them beat her up
Can you tell I hate losing |

Well, as long as West Ham United can keep the nucleus of the squad together, without feeling the need to cash in due to relegation, plus be able to add slightly to the managers specifications, all should be good for promotion. Sadly it does not always work this way, and the chairmen of the boards see fees from transfers as some way of making up the loss of revenue from not being within The Premiership structure.
This is where the teams you mentioned all went so badly wrong. The team have to gamble on going straight back up, and paying top wages to top players to ensure that this will happen. _________________ It feels so empty without a signature, so here is some mindless gabble to occupy the space |

The biggest game in West Ham's history surely takes place this Saturday. Wigan away. Win that and we draw level on points with Wigan with two games to play. Only thing that will keep us in the relegation zone should we win is our goal difference.
Lose Saturday and we are 100% going down.
I know a while ago I said if we go down I want them to go down fighting. They must have read that somewhere, the past few months (excluding Sheffield United) they have fought like mad.
So Wigan, Bolton and Manchester United to go |

Great win, massive win, that drags Wigan and Fulham right into it, shame Charlton couldnt win so that we could get Wigan and Fulham out this league. But all of a sudden West Ham have gone from no hope to having a chance, every week it seems to change, they'll win and they'll be close, then they'll lose and it will seem over. Difficult end to the season, Man Utd away, wouldnt want to have to win there! But then again if they've already won the title by then and if they're in the Champions League final they may rest players for the two finals they would have.
West Ham should be in the premiership, great club, great fans, deserve more.
I think they can a draw against Bolton and maybe even cause an upset at Old Trafford
Good Luck |

You know a few posts ago I said the Wigan game was our biggest of the season, well I lied. Todays game was the biggest game in West Ham's entire history. Had we lost we would have gone down. As it was we beat the Premiership champions 1-0 to stay up.

No hangover here!!! Only just got out of bed though. Luckily for me no work until tomorrow night.
Still in a state of shock that we have avoided relegation. You only have to read my comments in this thread to see I thought it was a done deal a few months back. I mean 10 points from safety and languishing in bottom place in the premiership.
And avoiding relegation by beating Manchester United last game of the season too! Which means we have done the double over Manchester United and Arsenal this season!

Well I must say I am very happy that West Ham stayed up. I have always had a soft spot for The Hammers, ever since Michael Hughes stopped the Scum winning the Premiership in 1995
This was re-enforced when Paolo Di Canio made Fabian Barthez look a proper charlie in the F.A Cup in 2001.
It does seem that every six years you pull off a shock result against satan's own, for this I love you and hope you stick around, hopefully Liverpool can reap the benefit in 2013 |

It is congratulations to West Ham United on surviving the dreaded drop. I did notice before the match actually kicked off, that there was some talk of Sheffield United allowing Wigan Athletic to be victorious, in the hope that West Ham United lost to Manchester United at Old Trafford. If this was the case, it has certainly backfired on them big time.
As for doing the double over Arsenal, revenge will be sweet next season when we have a full squad to chose a starting eleven from, without the worry of the treatment room having more players than the dressing room!
But yes, Alan Curbishley really turned things around for The Hammers, and Carlos Tevez found the back of the onion bag at the most vital times in the quest to overcome that ten point deficit. _________________ It feels so empty without a signature, so here is some mindless gabble to occupy the space |

Wow that was some party!
It's all gone quiet on the Tevez eligibility front at the moment. Seems the gang off four have finally realised that West Ham getting a 5.5million fine was punishment enough.
From my understanding of things, the FA or premier league (whoever!) had sent a 5 page letter out to all premiership clubs regarding what West Ham had done wrong. Seems this has finally shut up moaning Whealen and all the other prats that blame West Ham for there demise. Fact is they played rubbish all season and got relegated. West Ham played rubbish all season then won seven out of there last nine games, that's why West Ham stayed up and Sheffield United went down, and Wigan almost went down.
Whether or not West Ham deserved a points reduction doesn't matter anymore, We had a large fine and that was case closed. I hope it is now staying closed. I await further reports, for now it's all gone quiet over there. |

To be honest even though i would prefere West Ham to stay up (because Sheffield United are absolutely awful) but i think that West Ham should have got a points deduction. It is really unfair, without Tevez i dont think they would have stayed up!
I can definitly see why the other 4 clubs are raging!
If West Ham were midtable and in no danger of relegation then i think they would have been deducted points and i think that the fine given was nowhere near enough and the panel in charge bottled it! |

I still think that a legal team must have been consulted before any of the moves took place, and surely The Football Association would have said something at the time, had there been any underhand tactics. West Ham United would surely not have knowingly entered into these contracts on the face of a possible points deduction, and/or whoppingly large fine.
But the ruling has now been fully outlined, and there is no reason why any other club would make such a mistake again. It all seems as clear as mud now
So, what will the summer transfer market bring to The Hammers? Or will Alan Curbishley concentrate on the squad he currently has, the same squad that pulled off such a remarkable fightback from the dooms of despair. _________________ It feels so empty without a signature, so here is some mindless gabble to occupy the space |

It seems that Manchester Uniteds Anderson deal is now being investigating for the same reasons, due to a third part owner, and the illegality of that
Hope they get relegated! |

Oh come on!! Manchester United are a law unto themselves. Any wrong-doings are more than likely going to be swept under the carpet in a complete hush hush. That said, this is the first I have heard about this, so I have no background facts to hand.
I still feel that the FIVE MILLION English pound fine was a little harsh, after all, the rules were not exactly that clear before all of the events unfolded. And lets be air here, they are hardly much clearer now! Basically any player with third party involvement can not be purchased, nor play. But surely only a club can own the player in the first place? The whole incident is a farce from start to finish. _________________ It feels so empty without a signature, so here is some mindless gabble to occupy the space |
