Okay i found this story, that of which i wrote in the sixth grade for a writing assignment. We read the book Jumanji (for fun thats not a sixth grade book, its a picture book) and were told to write a sequal to Jumanji, as an assignment. I have always loved writing but never really thought that i was any good. Although my teacher seemed to think so, but isn't that what teachers are supposed to say, so i want to get your opinoin on it, please be honest, it won't hurt my feelings if you don't like it, thats why i'm asking so that i am able to improve. So here's the story. I know this is only a short story from my childhood, but its a start. I would love to try and write an actual book, mabye that should be my summer project. This is not my genre of choice but it was an assignment and i didn't have a choice! in reality i like fantasy myself. You'll find that when i wrote this i put lots of detail into the begining but was just tired nearer the end and it is not as good in my opinion, again please be honest i want to improve tell me your true feelings on it.
Jumanji, The end of the Line:
You were supposed to wake up from nightmares. That was what Judy kept telling herself in her head, as she shook violently under her bed covers one windy September night. She was having that same nightmare again, the one where she pictures the large lion chasing her across the living room, at an amazing pace. No matter how fast she ran, the lion always seemed to be just a few feet behind her. Around the chair, under the table, through the hallway...Nope still behind her, she kept running this time without looking back. Wait a minute, she could no longer hear the rythmic sound of the gigantic paws on the hard wood flooring. Could it be true, had she out run the beast? Just when she started to feel safe she could har a low hissing. That at first didn't bother her until she realized tha the hissing sound was in reality a ferocius snake that of which was quickly advancing on her and she had no time to figure out what to do. she had to get her bearings in order to know where and when to run. It was strange how in her nightmares the house was hers, yet so vague that it seemed it was not even hers at all.
All of a sudden it all stopped. She thought she had woken up, and could even feel the immense ammount of heat coming from the study which she was almost positive was around the corner, but she couldn't be sure. Judy was overjoyed, she shrieked with laughter, when she realized that Papa had started the study fire. She knew then that she was in fact awake, if she wasn't then how would she be able to feel that warm sensation brushing against her skin, and hear the crackling of the fire burning the wood? Judy did not know what to do, should she stay where she was and wait for Papa or Mama to come and get her or should she go to them? But then she thought that niether of those options were really very good ones, she knew it was late at night and figured that she might be punished if she was to be seen us so late. So after a moment of configuring her options she stood to her feet very slowly, careful not to make a sound, in order to let Papa realize that she was up and about.
She cautiously crept toward the hall on the left. She was sneaking around so intent on listening for noises that might be signs of people coming, that she did not pay attention to where she was going. She stepped on a toy ducky that squeaked out the strangest sound she had ever heard, it was something around the lines of a mix between a cow mooing and a dog barking. But the really weird thing about it was that that same duck was one she had played with, and that noise for some reason didn't match what she remembered. Another thought had crossed her mind, She had not played with it for over 4 years, where on Earth did it come from?
She slinked across the floor toward the hall on her right hand side. The light that was inadvertently left on was radiantly shining in her eyes. She could barely see, this was very anomalous, for this light never ever shined quite to that extent. She was stumbling across the florr and miscalculated where her turn should be, and bumped into a large saggy armchair, that was so huge it could have easily been mistaken for substantialy sized animal. As she hit the chair with a large thump the chair slid to reveal an eccentric brown door that seemed to be made of the same material as the antique furniture that surrounded the chair. The small bronze handle which was in the shape of a lion's head dangled back and forth hitting the door with each swing, was making a strange sound that Jusdy did not really like, but at the same time she was attracted to it, so she slowly approached the eccentric door.
As she presses her hand to the handle she finds that the handle is coated in astrange clear slime that smelled suspicisouly like milk. But se opposed the fact that she really shouldn't be doing this, that she should really be in bed. She counted to three hoping three would never actually come, but when it did come she wished that her brother Peter was there. He was the brave one she thought to herself, he was also the one who was ready and anxious for an adventure, but no, she wiped any thought of her brother out of her head. She knew it was for a selfish reason, but she wanted her time under the sun, it was her time to shine, her 15 minutes of fame, she wanted to prove she could be just as courageous. And in order to go through that door she would need to forget about her brother. So with out thinking she pulled back the small wooden door and barged in.
The door made a long loud CREAK as it was pulled back by Judy’s arm. She could tell that it had not been opened in a wile, if ever. She was immediately greeted by a small yet noticeable breeze, that carried a stench that smelled like a large wet dog, but of course she couldn’t know that for sure. She walked and walked, well it was more of a tiptoe I should say, she tiptoed down the long short hall. The hall itself had a carpet of leaves that seemed as if they had laid there forever. The walls and ceiling were chipped and had the same clear milk smelling slime, like the door handle had had. She tiptoed as she thought of how proud she was to actually have entered the door. She was also astounded at the fact that something so creepy, yet mysterious could actually be found in their boring manor…all her thoughts were interrupted when a low, deep vicious growl could be heard up the tunnel just around the bend. She rounded the bend petrified with the danger that overwhelmed her. As she slowly, very slowly turned the long dark bend filled with the foul smell, she could vaguely make out a large dark shape of the animal that just happened to be her worst fear. She was positive now as to what it was…a wolf, she could see the merciless yellow eyes drill through her. She was frozen and couldn’t move, dumfounded, she was trying to figure out how this animal had gotten in her safe house. No time to think the animal had made up its mind, it wasn’t going to sit there challenging the frightened girl, it was going to attack. It started racing toward her, it leaped at least 5 feet into the air. By now she could see that the wolf’s fur was a white and gray mixture, Judy stopped observing the creature once she felt teeth dig into her skin…She screamed at the top of her lungs…
And when she stopped screaming, she expected to be wounded or dead, instead she was on the floor next to her bed which she had fallen out of while screaming. She observed that her Victorian bed was drenched in sweat as were her clothes. The pink and blue canopy was ripped and lying on the bed, apparently she had ripped it down during her night mare. She knew what the nightmare was about, it was about Jumanji. The game that brought out ferocious things from the game into real life! She can still remember the first time her brother Peter had moved his pawn, the space read: lion attacked move back 2 spaces. He laughed mockingly at the cheesy game, but while he was laughing she was staring wit a look of absolute terror. For she was looking at a lion that was about to attack, sitting on top of their piano, there was no doubt about it, she hated the game. The worst part is that in order for everything that comes out of the game to go away someone must finish, must win or it all stays! That night that they had played their first and last game of Jumanji, Peter and she had thrown the game under a tree in the park in order to get rid of it. They had watched as Daniel and Walter picked up the game, that was two days ago, the two brothers still hadn’t played it. She knew that they should do something, should want them, but they didn’t.
Daniel and Walter were sitting in their bedroom that of which they share. There was a bunk bed with flannel linens. The walls had a border with race cars that seemed to be circling the room but never getting anywhere, just going around and around. The floor was a brown carpet that had no dirt, for their nanny had told them jst the day before to vacuum the floors. The clutter and mess was erased as if it was never there. Thankfully for the boys their nanny never looks under the bed. So most of the erased clutter and mess which included old math papers which never got turned in, pictures of school and summer events, old library books laid open the fines most likely amounted into at least 100 dollars by now. The toys like trucks and cars were under the bed as well, they looked as if they had pulled into a rest stop for a moment to return to driving only a minute later, but of course they will probably remain there for at least a week. Pushed back far under the bed is a green antique cardboard box, that was put there in a hurry to prevent the boy’s parents Mr. and Mrs. Budwing from spying their hidden gem. This cardboard box is missing a piece for in the brother’s haste the now missing pawn fell out. In large capital letters which are gold and embroidered on the box spells out the word: JUMANJI. This game is the reason that we are here dropping in on Walter and Daniel’s sanctuary.
The two brothers are sitting on the top bunk discussing the game entitled JUMANJI.
“When are we going to play it?” pleaded Walter.
“I’m not sure I can’t think of anywhere safe to play it.” Replied his brother with a hint of query in his voice.
“What about the library,” suggested Walter.
“I thought of that, but with all that noise it’s been making under the bed I didn’t reckon we’d be safe playing it in such a quiet place.”
“True, but if it’s so loud why don’t we go outside.”
“Because other kids will see us playing it, or hear us, so they might want to play too, or try to take it if its really cool.” Daniel replied in a voice that seemed to say, “Gee you should of guessed that you stupid head.”
“Well the only other place in town is Wal-mart. And we can’t just barge in like we own the place and just set up our game on the conveyer belt.”
“No we can’t, but you gave me an idea, what’s the one place in wal-mart that’s always deserted?”
“The brothers looked at each other and after a few seconds Walter figured out what Daniel was talking about. Both at the same time shouted out: “the card section”. Evidently their Mother heard them shout, because at that exact moment another shout could be heard from across the hall. “Walter and Daniel Budwing you have exactly 30 seconds to get in bed and be quiet, 1 2 3 4…” And that was the last soundthat could be heard from the Budwing’s house that night.
Judy got herself together and tried to go to sleep. But before she went to bed once and for all she prayed and asked God to keep away the nightmares, to keep away the wolves, and most importantly to keep away the fear. The last thing Judy saw before she went into a deep sleep was a rubber ducky wobbling back and forth side to side because of the large silver fan in her room used to keep the temperature down.
The sun was just materializing over the horizon in front of the Budwing’s French inspired home. The house’s shudders were a dark shade of green; the wooden planks a creamy vanilla color that looked like butter pecan ice cream. There was an old iron gate and fence circling the yard; the winding sidewalk twisted and turned all the way up to a large burgundy door. Daniel and Walter’s room had a window. It was a large window that overlooked the front yard, and if you were tall enough you would be able to see the playground that was up and over the large iron fence. The sun also usded the window as a telescope and its rays always seemed to magnify as the sun peaked through. Walter never seemed to mind about the sun, because he slept on the bottom bunk; Daniel on the other hand could not stand waking up in the wee hours of the morning because of the sun’s magnified rays shining in his eyes. As if the sun were demanding him to wake up and start the day. So like always Daniel was up first, he would have awoken his brother, but his curiosity was so overwhelming that he could not resist. He squirmed this way and that working his way deeper and deeper under his bed, he went around the clutter and papers, and toys, until he found the green antique cardboard box. Once he got a hold on it he yanked it out like pulling an engine from a car. He placed it in the center of the room when his worst fear emerged right in front of his eyes.
Daniel screamed at the sight of the raging tornado that seemed to be tearing things apart. Daniel hated tornadoes; it was his one true fear. He gave the game a shove as hard as he could, hoping to never see it again. As soon as Daniel was sure that he was ridden of the tornado he went of to the bed to wake up Walter.
“WALTER wake up now,” screamed Daniel so out of breath he sounded like the big bad wolf huffing and puffing.
“I’m up, I’m up what’s the rush?” grumbled Walter.
“In the box…had tornado…it bad…oh help…I don’t know what happened.” Daniel replied shakily
“Daniel wake up, your not making an ounce of sense; what’s wrong with you?”
“Oh Walter when I looked at the cardboard box this morning there was a tornado on the cover and it was spinning around and around, I nearly died.”
“Now it couldn’t have been that bad,” said Walter, “After all I’ve never heard of anyone dieing from an imaginary tornado, let’s take a look.” Daniel cowered in the corner as Walter peered under the bed. He reached in as far as he could, and pulled out the dark green box. To Daniel’s astonishment the box was normal, no raging tornado, no broken houses, no loud noises; just a plain green box.
“Look Daniel it’s all fine, you must have dreamed it up, did you have ice cream last night, you know it gives you nightmares.”
“Yes I did have ice cream last night smarty pants, but I did not dream that up. It was real.” Replied Daniel stubbornly “But, I’m not going to argue, let’s get dressed so that we can get to Wal-mart.”
Peter was already downstairs eating breakfast, when Judy begrudgingly crept down the steep stairs. She sat down at the kitchen table and started eating the scrambled eggs in front of her. There was then a silence that was so silent Judy’s ears began to throb. Thankfully Peter broke the silence.
“So what are you going to do today Mother,”
“Well, when I’m done with the dishes, I’m going to run down to Wal-mart and pick up a few things,” she answered. This time Judy spoke.
“We’ll pick up the things for you Mother, we have nothing else to do anyway.
“Why that’s real nice of you to offer, I’ll go get my shopping list so that you two can head out right away.” Exclaimed Mother excitedly.
Judy and Peter took the shopping list they were given and got dressed. Then exactly 10 minutes later they were flying down the street on their bikes on their way to the town’s Wal-mart. Then town is so small that it might as well be called a village. In fact it is a village, the village of Gordonsville. The village’s Wal-mart is almost empty because of how small the village is. So Wal-mart is the best place to place JUMANJI.
Daniel and Walter arrived at Wal-mart shortly after they left their house. As they pushed open the heavy door they heard a voice which they immediately recognized.
“Howdy Daniel, Walter what are you two boys up to?” said a man by the name of Bill who is the Wal-mart greeter.
“We’re good, how are you today, Mr. Bill?” replied Walter
“Well can’t complain, say what you got there?” Mr. Bill said as he pointed to the dark green box. Daniel showed Mr. Bill the cover and Waltere noted on the twinkle in Mr. Bill’s eye as he looked upon JUMANJI.
“It’s a game, we found it under the big oak tree at the park; we thought we’d play it here if you don’t mind.” Said Daniel
“Oh its just fine with me, it’s early yet you two boys are probably the only people I’ll see until lunch, so make yourselves at home.” Answered Mr. Bill, Oh almost forgot to describe this Mr. Bill person. Mr. Bill is someone who looks like he’s 35 years old, or so most people think. He’s one of those people that look real old one minute, but then take another glance in their direction and they look to be 20, so know one really knows. He lives alone, with no family, but the town takes care of him, or the village I should say. He is kind of tall with brown hair and an orange sweater which he wears every chance he gets. But we’ll talk about Bill later; let’s get back to Daniel and Walter.
After talking to Bill they made their way back to the card section. They sat down just as Daniel started to talk…
“Ready?”
“Yea I’m ready, let’s count to three and open it.”
“Okay”
“1 2…”
Judy and Peter were having a race to the store, Peter was in the lead. They raced as fast as the could to the front door of Wal-mart. Peter reached the target first and shoved through the door to meet Mr. Bill.
“So how are you two?”
“Not bad Mr. Bill, how are you?” replied Peter.
“Not too bad myself, are you two doing some shopping for your Mother?”
“Yea we are, how did you know?”
“Well before you to start shopping why don’t you go to the card section and meet up with Daniel and Walter they have a new game I’m sure they’d like you to play too.” Said Mr. Bill avoiding the question that Judy had asked.
“Okay we will, thanks Mr. Bill” replied Peter.
“No problem; have a good day”
Peter and Judy glanced at one another and ran toward the card section. As they reached they could hear the two boys’ voice counting “1 2…”
The two siblings ran faster. Just as the boys said “3” Peter and Judy screamed at the top of their lungs: “NO!”
It was too late. They had opened the box. Both Walter and Daniel looked at Judy and Peter in surprise, and a second later were sucked into the game completely. Judy saw a third pawn on the floor, and wasn’t sure what it meant, but she soon found out. Peter ran toward the game intending on saving the brothers, all of a sudden there was a rainbow color of lights twirling around and around. Then Peter too was sucked in leaving Judy all alone on the blue and white tile floor.
Tons of questions were running through Judy’s head like… Why did that happen it didn’t when she and Peter had played? Also where were the three boys? Plus why wasn’t she sucked in, where was the fourth pawn. She had to find out.
Judy ran over to see the instructions and check if anything had changed; it had. The instructions read:
1. set up board
2. pick your pawn
3. reach end to win
NOTE: to leave the game you must win.
This was definitely different then when Peter and she had played. She had to find the answers to these and more questions, and most of all she had to save the three boys. Though terrified, confused, and did I mention terrified, she picked up the game in a hurry and ran toward the door not knowing where she was going, she had the game tucked under her arm. As she reached the door she saw Mr. Bill,
“Well where are you off to in such a hurry, and where are the boys?” asked Mr. Bill, in his usual cheer voice, although today the cheerfulness sounded like a mask hiding away his true feelings. Maybe that’s why Judy did what she did next, because she somehow sensed something about Mr. Bill, who knows?
I’m not sure where I’m going but as to the second question they’re in this box.” Judy wasn’t sure why she had said that, he probably thinks she’s crazy, she going to have to be more careful. But her mouth wasn’t listening to her brain, and she just spilled out the whole story. To her surprise she saw a look of concern in Mr. Bill’s eyes, but she knew he thought it was just a game.
“Well you have fun” he said as she departed from the store. She didn’t bother responding, she just ran, as fast as she could. Mr. Bill sat down and was thinking over what he just heard. He pulled out a cell phone and dialed a number and said quite bluntly:
“We have a problem”
“What is it old Bill?” was the response of a man named William.
“It’s Jumanji”
William was silent for a moment contemplating what he had heard, could it be true?? “I’m on my way”.
The phone clicked off as Mr. Bill sat down by the door.
Judy ran out into the street and nearly knocked over one of her friends Luke. He laughed at her for being so clumsy, but when she told him the story and showed him the game, he shut up.
“So do you want me to help??” he asked
“Sure, I figured we start researching at the library or something.” She replied hastily.
“Hey I have an idea, doe that game have a name on it, you know like the person who made it?” he asked excitedly
“Well I’m not sure, I’ll look.” She looked all over the box and didn’t see a name.
“No it doesn’t look like there is one.” She said.
“Oh well, we’ll just look under really strange games, since there’s no name to research,” he said sarcastically.
Peter, Daniel, and Walter landed on the floor with a hard thump. They looked around and noticed that they were still in Wal-mart sort of anyway, it was all purplish in color and there were no human beings around. They decided together that they were in the game, but they didn’t know how to get out.
“So did anyone read the instructions, does it say how to get out of here?” asked Peter
“Now we don’t like instructions, besides we were kind of busy being sucked into a virtual reality, hey Peter didn’t you and Judy play this game once? Asked Walter, who was sarcastic only because he was scared. That’s how he hid his fear from people (other than Daniel.)
“Yea, but when we played we didn’t go into another world or what ever, but if it’s the same when we played then we have to finish the game to stop the game.” He answered.
“Okay let’s start playing, where are the pawns?” questioned Daniel. Peter looked around and saw that there was a large board big enough for people to stand on.
“I think that we are the pawns.” Said Peter. Altogether the boys jumped on the board and started playing the game. Daniel went first, he rolled a ten and went to the square as he read aloud what it said:
“Move back 5 spaces tornado hits camp.” All of a sudden there was a raging sound as a tornado started roaring around and around getting closer to the boys every second. It was making a huge mess, destroying everything its path. The storm was coming right for Daniel, he was starting to lift up off the ground and into the air…
Judy and Luke went straight toward the library. When they reached the small stone building, they entered the oak door and headed straight toward the help desk.
“Hello Mrs. White, we’re here to research this game.” Said Judy trying to hide what was really happening. She couldn’t slip up like she had done with Mr. Bill. She wanted to rush to the desk and quickly bark out orders, but she had to be strong and not clue in Mrs. White about today’s happenings.
“Well kids, is there a manufacture’s name on the box, or a creators name??” asked Mrs. White, an elderly old woman, with white hair, pale skin, and bright pink lips.
“No we looked.” Replied Luke trying to stay calm, while also trying to speed things up at the same time.
“Well this game looks rather old, a lot of times during the 1950s people would put the company name or the creators name on the back of the playing board, instead of on the box. Did you by chance look there?” asked Mrs. White. Judy was getting impatient with Mrs. White who would (as always) ramble on and on and on, so she decided to be a little more blunt and keep the conversation going.
“No, we’ll do it ourselves over at the table.” Replied Judy, as she reached the table by the bay window.
“Okay then, good luck, you know if you need any help, or are interested in anything I am more than happy to tell you what I know, of course I don’t know everything, so I am also more than happy to help you find out.” Rambled Mrs. White
Judy and Luke sat down as they slowly took out the board, scared that they too would be sucked in. They flipped over the board and on the back were words written in gold which said: L.M. & B.C.
Obviously initials of two people. As soon as Luke saw the two initial he jumped up with out explanation and ran toward the door. Judy followed, not knowing what else to do.
Walter wasn’t sure if he was able to help Daniel or not, could he leave his square with out rolling?? He had an idea, could he do it fast enough?? He quickly yelled for the dice, and without rolling them picked them up and dropped them, so that it would land on ten. He ran for the tenth square and grabbed Daniel just in time. Before ten minutes were up the boys were playing around not only the tornado but fires, lions, viscous monkeys, and wild dogs. Peter badly hurt his leg and it was bleeding, everyone of them had something that was hurt an arm, a leg, or a face. With each move the game became more and more dangerous. Peter rolled a six and the space read: Space robots attack go back three spaces. None of them were ready for what happened next, all around them space robot toys were jumping off the shelves and biting their legs and toes. Then Walter rolled. He rolled an 8. This time it said: Math teacher ties you up by your thumbs, and after hanging by the ceiling by his thumbs for five minutes he realized he had lost. It was up to Peter and Daniel.
When Judy finally caught up to Luke, on the street, she asked him where they were headed, He said:
“To Jen’s she’s great on the computer, if she can’t figure out who these two people are no one can.” He didn’t wait to hear Judy’s response, he just ran off.
Peter rolled next, He just need a 3 to win. He rolled a two, the space read: Fall in canyon you lose. As the floor fell loose and he started falling he yelled up to Daniel: “It’s up to you now.” Daniel couldn’t believe it, he save everyone, no he couldn’t he was afraid of EVERYTHING.
As they reached Jen’s house Luke finally slowed down. He knocked on the door, Jen’s Father answered and he invited them in. They sat down an waited for Jen to come in. The room was huge with a small computer tucked away in a corner. Jen finally came in, they told her the entire story (briefly of course), and she didn’t really believe it. But she did offer to help.
“We’ll start big” said Jen “I’ll then cross-reference the initials with anybody who lived during…is there a date?”
“Mrs. White said it was from the 1950s.” answered Judy.
“Alright, lets see, 4,585 matches, that’s a start.” She pushed a few buttons and Judy gasped as she saw the number go down to 704.
“What did you do?” asked Luke.
“I cross-referenced those results to anyone who lives in the U.S., Now let’s narrow it down to Tennessee.” She pushed a few more buttons and the number went down to: 74.
“Now” she explained “I’m going to narrow it down to anyone who lived in Gordonsville, just for the heck of it who knows.” She typed it in and pushed enter. The number went down to:0.
“Alright how about we try anyone who lives in Tennessee who is still alive.” Clickity clack came the sound of the keys, then the thump of the large enter key. Then number was now at: 25
“What about anyone who made a paten for the a game with the those initials?” suggested Luke.
“Great idea, I’ll try that”. Then came the now familiar clickity clack of the keys and on final push of enter. The number now stood at: 2
It explained that their initials were like stage names, there real names are: Bill Conner, and Will Miller. And that the initials stood for names which they were called as kids: Brad Conner (B.C.) and Lance Miller (L.M.).
“Thanks Jen you’re a life saver.” Exclaimed Judy “We’re headed for Wal-mart would you like to join us?”
“Sure thanks.” Jen wheeled her wheel chair over to the door. They all walked down the street toward the grocery store, but they weren’t going to shop, they were going to see if there hunch was correct.
Both of the two boys were afraid that Daniel would crack, they knew that he was afraid of everything an anything. He only had two spaces left, but who know what could happen in those two spaces.
As the three kids went toward the heavy door Judy was contemplating the risks of her plan, would it work, what if her hunch was wrong? They saw Mr. Bill talking to a man, not from around there, someone they never saw before. They walked up to the two of them, and Judy just blurted it out, without thinking of the possible outcomes.
“How are you doing Brad Conner.”
“Nice to see you too,” I said. “I see you finally figured it all out, This is Lance, I thrust you know who he is as well.”
“Well your both going to have to help us get our friends back out of that stupid game you made,” Luke blurted.
“Don’t worry we’ll help, lets go to my house, and I’ll explain on the way.” I answered.
The tree kids followed the men to the Rolls Royce (which they didn’t even notice before) and got into the back seat.
“First off, how does a Wal-mart greeter have a Rolls Royce?” Jen asked a little cross.
“Actually it’s mine, I work for a big law firm in New York, well actually I run it.” It was Lance talking this time.
“Will shut it, this isn’t the time or the place, you guys listen up and I’ll fill you in as best as I can. When we first started inventing Jumanji we never thought it would do this, Jumanji means FUN in Latin. We thought that it would be fun, and that we would sell thousands and make millions. But it didn’t work out that way. No company was interested in the game, it was just a boring board game, so that was the only copy ever made. We still played the game that is Will and I, and we started to see things change. It was getting smarter, it now has a mind of its own. It started getting harder and harder. Injures started occurring and they remained even after the game was won. Now it can suck people in, and change the square sayings to ensure that they lose. We have to stop it, destroy it. We’ve also notice that it has the ability to dig into peoples mind and find they’re deepest fear, and use it against them…”
“So what do we do burn it” Luke interrupted sarcastically.
“Well actually, yes, that’s what I was thinking.” Lance replied…he wasn’t joking.
The five of them reached Mr. Bills house prepared to throw the game into the fire, but they then thought of the boys.
“What if it hurts the boys, or kills them when we burn it?” asked Jen who now fully believed the story.
“We don’t THINK that it will, you just have to trust us” said Lance
Daniel rolled a one, and read it aloud: “If you dare, walk to the end” Daniel was scared, and he most definitely didn’t dare. Just then the dice disappeared. Daniels only chance of winning was to walk across. Walter started encouraging him, “When you get there yell JUMANJI Peter said it will stop the game”. Daniel had to do it, he ran as fast as he could, dogging his worst fears as they emerged right before his eyes, as he reached the end he yelled…
Lance wasn’t stupid, he realized that the kids were getting second thoughts, so he shoved Judy, grabbed the game and thrust the entire thing into the fireplace just as Daniel yelled: JUMANJI!! The boys appeared in the living room, followed by a lightning bolt filling the space with bright radiance. You could hear noises from all the different animals shriek as they were destroyed in the fireplace. Judy and the others sat around the fire telling of all the events which had taken place. Judy and Daniel both felt a sense of accomplishment and amazement that they had been able to do all they did, the day had never been happier only one true question remained Judy thought of right now and that was:
“How did you make the game do all of those things?”
“We don’t know how it happened…We talked about the game coming to life and how every company in the world would want to buy it, but we never made It do it. I guess some things are meant to be left unanswered.” I replied.
P.S. I Bill Conner am writing the accounts of this story so those to come will not forget the legend of Jumanji, may this help you find more about yourself, and help you overcome your fear as the people in this story did…
