The movie must be better than the game. It has to have a longer and more in depth story line.

I'm always excited about the news I hear from time to time about a game going into movie, but... I've heard about metroid prime, super smash brothers melee, etc and till now I havn't seen any of them. Maybe it's the fact that I live in a small country and the cinema's don't buy these movies...Anyways, still havn't heard anything about them...So I guess they are just bad...

There is no Metroid Prime or Super Smash Brothers Melee movies right now. I believe some sort of Metroid movie was rumored, but nothing was ever made official.

Movies from video games can be good but only if they've got a damn good plot. Judging from how many games have decent plots on their own, it shouldn't be too hard to make a movie from one. I'm interested to see how the Hitman movie turns out, though I don't think the guy playing 47 looks mean enough.

By general rule movies based in a video game are bad, i don't really know if the people who made the game actually are either consulted or take part in the movie process, but in case they do (in most adaptations i watched), they could make better. By the way i read some time ago that a metal gear solid movie is in process and it's from the same people that made the game, furthermore, the actor that gives snake the voice is actually going to be him in the movie (sorry i don't have a link to this).

I liked Final fantasy movies, but i think that there's room for improvement, not visually (they are awsome), the first one (The Spirit Within) didn't fell much final fantasy to me, but anyway i have only played 7 and 8 Sad. And the second one (Advent Children) was pretty good, but confusing for someone that hasn't played the game.

I'm not a big fan of resident evil saga, but the first movie was pretty decent, the others i didn't like so much (including the last one), anyway they are fun to watch (mass slaughter, high amount of action, bring it on)

I haven't played silent hill, i've just watched some videos about the game and heard a lot from friends, but the movie was ok, many aspects are excesivly mistified but i'm sure that the game goes something like that.

I do not recall any more movies based in video games that i liked. Tomb Raiders series, Mario bros, Mortal Kombat, DOA, were movies that did not convinced me.

Regarding Hitman, i was extremly excited to watch the movies until i saw the actor that plays such incredible character, he doesn't have what it takes to be agent 47, he is too young and does not have the kind of face or acttitud that i would spect. Jason Statham has not only a perfect match with the character, but has a carrear based in character alike, (the transporter and crank are great examples) it is a mayor mistake not to include him.

Some of the games they made into movies were very decent but others sucked. Final Fantasy 7 Advent Children was an exelent movie. I would say most games are good and the movies are also good. The thing is if it was already a movie first and changed into a game it would have a higher chance of sucking. Top Gun was a awsome movie like Top gun 2. The games just sucked. Hey Arnold the movie came out first as a movie then they made a game of it. I would say it was alright but it could of been way better.

The only movies that I ended up liking that was also a movie was Resident Evil as well. I loved the game and the game to me is better than the movie, but I still loved the both of them. It was a great game and it was a very good movie as well, so that was one I did like very much.

One that just came out that I wasn't too fond of was the making of Hitman. I loved the video game and thought it was probably one of the funner games to play with. I liked playing that game when I had time to play, but when I saw the movie I was highly disappointed. It wasn't at all what I thought it would be like and it really wasn't the best of movies.

I haven't watched a movie that came from games, or played games that turned into movies, but I think those movies have more chance to be good than movies derived from books. That's because no matter how good a game is, it's plot is usually relatively simple, and most of the time is spent 'killing them all' and/or doing some type of quest.

Simple plots are easy to translate into two hours of movie time.
