What types of books do you read?

I enjoy science fiction and fantasy books the most. My favorite authors are Michael Crichton (Jurassic Park, Sphere, Congo and more), and Dean Koontz (Odd Thomas and more).

I read comic books/graphic novels as well, plus some drama and horror. Once in a while I'll read a biography.

I like reading Science Fiction books and fantasy books, ones like the Eragon Series (Eragon and Eldest at the moment, third one isn't out yet) along with the star wars novels

What I read most is supernatural, sci-fi and fantasy. But I really enjoy best the books that have something special in them, some spice, new things I never encountered before. I really like it when the author builds a whole new world, and especially when that world is a bit crazy.

My current favorites are oldies, Vurt by Jeff Noon - a totally crazed cyberpunk/drug culture thingie. And Good Omens by Neil Gaiman and Terry Prachett - still the funniest book I ever read.

I'm big on reading, I'll read anything that interests me. I prefer Romance Horror and Suspense though. I've been on a college reading level since 5th grade, even though I wasn't much of a reader before, I hated reading until I actually tried it, now I love it. Anyway my favorite book series right now is the Twilight Series by Stephanie Meyer.

I try to read things that interest me, which varies in categories. I like reading a good mystery every now and then that it well crafted and keeps me guessing simply because I like a novel that gets me thinking and trying to decipher what is happening in the ultimate plot. I like horror novels at times as well and mystery sci fi novels are pretty good as well at times. Occasionally I will read a romance novel simply because one of my sister had a slew of them and when I was bored I would grab one of them and think about how easy it would be to actually take the time to write a romance novel since most of the time they do not have any over the top plots that are really involved. I also will take in a biography every now and then since those can be a good read if the person it is about is interesting in their experiences. Psychological thrillers are also stories of interest to me as well.

Supernatural, Fantasy, Sci-fi, Romance and graphic novels (mostly manga). I think it would be fair to say that each of these genres take up an equal amount of my reading material.

I only read fantasy, even though I can enjoy the books of Dan Brown too. Currently I'm reading the Wheel Of Time series, which is a classic fantasy series and it's extremely good! Any fantasy fan should already have read this or start reading it right now. Smile

I also enjoyed the Star Wars novels and I think (but I'm not sure Smile

) that I've read them all.

I enjoy reading Sci-Fi... I've read all of the AvP and Predator series, and I particularly like the ones from Steve Perry, my favorite one is Pray. Other than sci-fi, I've been a freak for Thomas Harris (The silence of the lambs, Red dragon etc...)
I recently read the Digital Fortress by Dan Brown, and it also has to be among my favorites Very Happy

I read a lot of fantasy, but I also love some classics. I adore Jane Austen's writing, but some classic authors like Dickens I just can't get through.

I would like to say I'm a fan of science fiction, but that's a mixed genre for me, there's so much bad science fiction that I've read that I'm a little wary of the genre. I don't read much good space age sci-fi, but generally the earth technology themed sci-fi I encounter is pretty good.

I read a pretty wide variety of things. Sci-fi. Fantasy. Historical fiction. Poetry. Some of my favorite authors include Neil Gaiman (just finished Stardust, currently reading Anansi Boys) and Frank Herbert (not only his Dune series, but also some of his more obscure works, like The White Plague and The Dosadi Experiment).

I've really liked several of Michael Crighton's works. The Great Train Robbery was fun, as was Eaters of the Dead. Didn't care for Timeline as much, but it was good.

Before Stardust, I finished Susanne Clark's Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell. Great book, but extremely long.

I don't really know what types of books I read, I believe they fall under autobiographies (e.g. Wild Swans) and documentary style books (e.g. Bill Bryson's works) or just anything insightful. For some reason, I don't read hardly any fictional novels, although I do enjoy them when I get into them.

I like to read nonfiction and philosophy. Reading about religion is always great too. Sam Harris had wrote some nice books recently.

I used to read science fiction a lot: JG Ballard, Ray Bradbury, Tanith Lee etc. The "inner space" crowd. I haven't read much of it lately. I like classics, murder mysteries and old books. I collect girls' annuals from the 1920 and earlier. My daughter gave me a fantastic book for my birthday. It's the Girls' Annual of 1892 and is amazing!

I'm now reading a book about my city, Montevideo. I think I'll read next something about cafes and pubs from Montevideo and Buenos Aires in the XX century. I am going to read also about web programming and Javascript. Tomorrow is my birthday and I'll recieve some books as gifts Smile

To be fair, I don't read very much at all. Especially not in the last 5 or 6 years. I used to love Fantasy books though, and the last few books I've read have been fantasy also.

Sure, they don't really have much meaning, but I like reading just to escape, and to be caught up in the story Smile
