Why do religious people think it is OK to shove their religion down someone else's throat? Especially when those people do not try and shove their viewpoint upon others.

The shoving is done in many different ways. You have the door to doors, fliers, conversations and even laws. Why can't gay people get the same rights as you or me? Why is it not ok to mess with genetics to further science that could someday save us from something big?

Why is it ok for a religious effort to parade around and someone denouncing the existence of god is not allowed to? You see local religious groups going door to door often trying to "spread the word". How far do you think you or I would get around the block giving out the word that god doesn't exist before we are met by the police.

Religion is control over the masses. Your religion tells you what is right and wrong with the warning of hell for the ones who don't follow in stride. Just the same as how you were told around xmas that santa would not bring you presents if you were a bad kid.

I have heard the statement of "can't image a world without religion". I totally agree with it. There would be tons more crime everywhere along with other bad things. Without that control there would be chaos.

Add that in with the mind set of people back when the bible was created. The lack of knowledge, understanding and control over their surroundings. They needed answers and came up with them the best they could at the time. It wasn't their fault people thought the world was flat or that when you were sick, you had evil spirits inside of you. They didn't have the technology to tell them different.

How about all the deaths that religion has caused, the same deaths that keep happening even in todays society. When I read the news and see a 15 yr old kid was killed for being gay, it pisses me off. Why? Because the anti gay feeling out there I feel is greatly influenced by the bible. You are taught it is wrong and it shouldn't be happening.

Guess you could call it a double edged sword

Ever wonder if that people are almost forced to rely on a church. Most of the defined "sins" are human instinct. So they are sins that whoever made them knew people would break. Thus making them dependent on a church. Then you add in that churches also ask you to "tithe", giving 10% of your earnings to god.....non taxable. A great income source.

Lets say you have a church sitting of 100 per mass session. If everyone made $350 week and did the full 10% tithe the church would make $3500 per mass that they held. My old church held 5 or 6 mass per week. Just assuming 1 mass per week the church would make $14,000 a month and $168,000 a year. Those numbers are only for tithe off of a minimum wage person. Now add in that rich people also attend church and also add in donations. Don't forget to deduct some cash because not everyone tithes. That is still a ton of cash.

There are two tempting situations there, power and money. No different from any other form of control....government. I myself can not fully trust that type of situation, it is in their best interest to deceive.

Got a tad off topic there.

I was wondering what other people thought was the reason religion is pushed onto others that don't have the same beliefs.
