Why do you people hate us?

I am muslim. I have 3.5 gpa like every quarter. but still, why do people think of us like lowly stupid people. i was born here in the U.S I am a citizen with the passport and everything. My dad is a high computer engineer and my mom is a teacher. Why do people hate us? Just because I am muslim? We, the true muslim, ARE NOT TERRORISTS. WE DO NOT KILL JUST BECAUSE WE WANT TO. WE ARE PEACE LOVING PEOPLE. Some one please tell me why this is happening to muslims all around the world? Just because of Palestine, iraq, afganhistan, and the 9/11. We muslim are not like those dirty peopel that only call themselves muslim from the outisde but inside truly belive in nothing. they try to ruin the name of all muslims around the world. What do you have to say about this?

What happened to you exactly? That is making you feel this way or are you just talking in general. Hi, my name is Dawn. I am a Christian(People think christians are ignorant). But I have a friend his name is muhammad and he is muslim(we go to college together). When the 9/11 thing happened I did not hate him. He is my brother and my friend. Yes he annoys me. But it is not because of his religon. There are ignorant people in this world(about 90%,joke). But truth be told there are ignorant people who can be stereotypical and mean and hurtful. Stay away from those people who dont like you. And if you are not comfortable telling them who you are then dont. If they hate you because of who you are so be it. Just stay away from them. Love yourself your family and your religon. Dont care about what other people think. Peace

I'm sorry that you've encountered some prejudices because of your religion. After 9/11, there seemed to be a definite spike in those sorts of things. There are zealots in every religion, but those people should not reflect on the faith as a whole and I'm sorry that's happened to you.

I agree with Sunshine. If people are going to be that close-minded and ignorant to hate you just because of your religion, stay away from them. They're not people you would need in your life, anyway. Surround yourself with people that understand what being a true Muslim is about and just don't worry about those that are ignorant and nasty.

I have a couple of Muslim friends and I hate to say it but it's the same here in England. My friends have also suffered verbal abuse by ignorant idiots who brand all Muslims as Suicide Bombers or Terrorists simply because of their religion. These people have absolutely no understanding of the Muslim faith and go out of their way to cause hurt and misery to innocent Muslims who are just going about their business. We've even had race-related riots in some cities where gangs of mindless thugs have picked on people just because of their appearance. It sickens me to think that this sort of thing goes on. The actions of the minority are taken as being representative of the majority but it's just not the case.

I'm sorry you've had to put up with this horrible treatment but please believe me that not everyone thinks the same way.

I am Muslim however Australia seems to have more acceptance of other races compared to other countries. There are obviously places where it happens at unacceptable levels (relatively, I am not saying that if it is done in little bits it is acceptable). And anyone that judges you by the actions of infamous people just because they are of the same race is ignorant and -- I do this as well -- feel better aboiut yourself that you are amongst the more intelligent people in the world when someone discriminates against you. Most people who do are ignorant. According to their logic, people should hate Americans for what Bush does, or hate descendants of Nazis because of what happened over 50 years ago but having nothing to do with that person.

Well, i am glad that so many people actually beleive in what i say. also, i remember some one saying that islam is a cruel religion. It may sound like it. Let me explain to you what the true jihaad means if you read the quran ( not koran) Jihaad= the fight with the satan or the shaaitan in the mind on what to do the right thing or the wrong thing. Yes, when the imaam says to fight for islam we will, but that has not happed for the last 1300 years since Imam Moiz was in power. All these other people beleive that the Imam has come and told them to fight the Americans. That is just an excuse to kill the people they hate. They are fighting for an unjust reason therefore not really doing jihaad. All muslims must do jihaad with the shaitaan in there mind. the shaitaan tells us to do wrong things and we must do battle wth him IN THE MIND not with swords. we must fight the shaitaan or satan so that we can peacefully go along with our religion. I hope now you people can better understand islam. The word islam in arabi means peace. Assalamoalaikum means peace to you, but we misinterpret it as helllo. assalam means peace and olaikum peace to you.

kool, i now understand more about islam, and i always thought it was koran also, now i can tell that to my social studies teacher, let's see what happens (she always thinks she's right)

I am glad you explained what those statements above really meant. Some people take things so literally. If you are not of a certain religon then you are not goint to fully understand the characterists and beliefs of that religon.
