If I upgrade to windows 7 beta from vista, will all my drivers be compatible? The system is only about 2 months old and it came with vista.

Well it most likely will work just fine since windows 7 and vista are pretty much identical in every way except the GUI.

If you're thinking of upgrading your main machine to Windows 7, let me advise against doing that...

Just make a partition and install it there. Never use a beta as a primary OS.

As for the beta support ending in August, I'm sure that by then beta 2 or 3 may be out and so the updates would continue so long as you continue to upgrade to the newest version. But still, it's not the wisest thing to rely on.

There is no indication to believe that beta 2 or 3 will be public and there is no guarantee that he will be able to get an official version of the current beta release then or that Windows 7 will be released by then.

Well I agree, and they even said there won't be any more public betas, but then again they did put this on the official beta website:

Quote:
Watch the calendar. The Beta expires on August 1, 2009. To continue using your PC, please be prepared to reinstall a prior version of Windows or a subsequent release of Windows 7 before the expiration date.

Apparently Microsoft have said there won't be a second beta. There's an article floating around the internet somewhere....
