If I upgrade to windows 7 beta from vista, will all my drivers be compatible? The system is only about 2 months old and it came with vista. _________________ BreakBoredom - Do you have anything better to do? |

Well it most likely will work just fine since windows 7 and vista are pretty much identical in every way except the GUI. _________________ Dilly dally, shilly shally. |

If you're thinking of upgrading your main machine to Windows 7, let me advise against doing that...
Just make a partition and install it there. Never use a beta as a primary OS.
As for the beta support ending in August, I'm sure that by then beta 2 or 3 may be out and so the updates would continue so long as you continue to upgrade to the newest version. But still, it's not the wisest thing to rely on. _________________ Come visit Shattered Abstracts! (Photoblog!) |

There is no indication to believe that beta 2 or 3 will be public and there is no guarantee that he will be able to get an official version of the current beta release then or that Windows 7 will be released by then. |

Well I agree, and they even said there won't be any more public betas, but then again they did put this on the official beta website:
| Quote: | | Watch the calendar. The Beta expires on August 1, 2009. To continue using your PC, please be prepared to reinstall a prior version of Windows or a subsequent release of Windows 7 before the expiration date. |

| Apparently Microsoft have said there won't be a second beta. There's an article floating around the internet somewhere.... |
