I had to use the repair option on the XP disk because some of my .dlls had been corrupted/edited by some stupid program I installed recently. Unfortunately, after it was done repairing, and it got to the Windows XP install menu, I rebooted my computer because I thought I choose the wrong option; later I found out that menu shows up after the repair has taken place. Now, after I boot my computer I get to that same install screen, except nothing loads, it's just a blue screen (not blue screen of death), just the blue background that the install menu should be over. I also tried repairing it again, and I still can't get into that install menu. I also can't boot in safe mode, and I can't boot normally because it goes right to that install menu (and then doesn't load).

The screen I am referring to is shown on this website: http://www.webtree.ca/windowsxp/repair_xp.htm (THE LAST IMAGE).

Did you back up all your data? If not, pull your hard drive, connect it to another computer and back up if possible. Then put in your XP disk and completely reformat. Or at least, that is what I would do.

Basically, I interupted Windows while it was trying to install (or was getting ready to install) the repairs, so now it is confused and will not boot up or show the full menu again. Right now, I have to find a way to trick it into "not" installing the repairs, or atleast boot into windows again, and not into the install menu.

I'll probably end up trying to back-up everything like you said Rashy. I just do not want to. I have like 400gigs atleast of stuff I want to keep, and probably won't be able to, unless I go buy like a terabyte drive Silly. Do you think it's possible that I buy a new hard, set it as the master drive, and then install windows on there?

I found out that I closed the installation before it could properly install my SATA drivers, which is why it will not boot or detect my hard drives anymore. I will have to download the drivers I need and then load them into the Windows Setup mode, but it only accepts floppy disks. I don't have a floppy drive! Is there a way to install these drivers without a floppy? More discussion here: http://www.techsupportforum.co.....ost1388347

You can slipstream your SATA drivers into your Windows XP installation CD.

To slipstream is to add the SATA drivers into your CD so that the installation loads your drivers along with others.

One very common program to slipstream would be nLite.

They provide a guide on their website which you can follow.

In the end I tried using a disk (floppy) to install the drivers in the Repair Menu (when it asks if you need to install additional drivers). I guess it didn't like that either, which leads me to believe it had nothing to do with drivers at all, I just f'ed up the install beyond repair. Anyways, I just bought a new hard drive and installed windows on it, while booting my old two under it. Much easier way for me, since I needed the additional space, and saved me the hassle of trying to backup so much space just to format. Plus, my new hard drive is super speedy Smile.
